pours a dark umber...great! Thick foamy head, light tan that settles slowly leaving nice lace on the glass. The aroma has a bite to it, very complex, kind of like cinnamon. Taste is equally complex with bold accents of hops. There is a chocolate flavor, a yeasty aftertaste. Moutfeel slightly oily, not the greatest Overall this is a very drinkable beer.

This one pours a rich, almost opaque chocolaty brown. Aroma is strong and malty and just a touch sweet. Flavor is rich, remarkably sweet but not cloying, strongly malty with hints of fruit and butterscotch and a nutty trace. There is just a tiny hit of hop bitterness. Very smooth and pleasant to sip.

Deep brown pour with a gigantic, rocky, tan head. Complex aroma of figs, cocoa, nuts, leather, tobacco, alcohol, fall leaves, and soft peat. A lot of that aroma gets hidden in the flavor but it still has some nice warming layers of peat, caramel, cocoa, nuts and alcohol. Dry, medium body with plentiful carbonation.

From a 750 ml. green bottle with a blurb and serving suggestions on the back label. Sampled at a cooler cellar temperature in a La Chouffe snifter. Poured a hazy golden orangey hued brown with a foamy, creamy off-white head that settled into a thin bubbly lacing, minimal amount of sticking. Aromas of bubble gum and spicy, earthy alcohol, peppery hops and sweet grainy, lightly caramel malts. Good carbonation and a crisp, dryish, creamy smooth medium bodied mouthfeel. A nice velvety taste, light sweet caramel, bubble gum and clove yeasty, grainy, peppery spicy hops, a soft fruitiness that mingles with the alcohol, the alcohol provides a warming presence in the palate, and a dry spicy, yeasty, sweet malty finish. Easy, smooth drinkability, another good ale from this Belgian brewer, well worth trying.

One of my favorite dubbels. Pours with a nice thick head and tastes great. Ages nicely too.

Bottle. Reminds me of the good danish christmas beer (Semper Ardens especially) or a subtle version of Pannepot. Brown with huge pale brown head. Aroma of hopps, sweet malt and spices. Licorice becomes prominent after a while. Taste sweet, malty vague notes of spices and a little alcoholburn, after a while licorice. This is a very good belgian beer, much more subtle than many others, and has so much to offer. I could drink this all nigt, but would probably get drunk quite fast.

Brun let uklar øl. Duft: let karamel, let bærndt, varm og humlet. Smag: samme. Absolot en af de allerbedste øl jeg har fået. Den er så afstemt og velsmagende at det er en fornøjelse.
