How strange ... a sweet and sour almost Scottish brown ale from Belgium. Cloudy brown with a huge foamy head. Sour ale with sweet dark malts. Exremely spice first kick, followed by sour, sweet dark malt, some fruit. Mouth feel is almost puffy due to carbonation. Finish is slightly bitter and only lightly hopped, tannic and dry.

Large head, diminishes. Nice lace. Cloudy, dark red-brown colour. Aroma; fruit (apple), spices (coriander), yeast. Taste; malt, fruit, chocolate and a little bitter (liqourice-like?) finish. Very nice.

Deep dark murky brown color, small, but simmering, tan head. Aroma: mollasses, nuts, butter, cream, dates, raisins, dark rum, all the rich flavors one can imagine. Thick, full, hot mouthfeel, full body, tingly hops. Super-charged with hops, the flavor keeps on coming, simmers and stews, with a long lasting, rich, satisfying finish! Takes the cake for all brown ales everywhere, past, present, future. Round, delicious, sensuous, and utterly lip smackin’!

Bottle: Deep ruby brown color with a yellow/tan head. Medium - full body, highly carbonated. Aroma: fruits(apple, plum, pear, mild grapefruit), spice, yeast, sweet caramel malt, pine. Taste: sweet and somewhat syrupy, notes of grains, caramel, pepper, yeast, maple, earth, mild grapefruit zest, honey. Finishes dry, with strange mix of honey and a mild tart malt. Very nice.

Like a scotch ale with belgian yeast. Dark brown head dies off leaving only a lacing behind. Nose is very candylike. Almost too sweet. Dark and caramel on the tongue with a pronounced apple like character. Good brew

3.18.06 Split with AdamSkillin. Dark brown beer. Great Belgian Scotch Ale (ha!) Very enjoyable, unfortunately I had this kind of cold I think and it just would not warm up for me. Even a few degrees more and lots of stuff would have exploded out, but even so I agree with Adam. Winner

Bottle. Sweet fruity nose is very exotic - first impression was of pomegranate and mango. Ruby-mahogany pour, very dark and nearly opaque with strong visible carbonation and a large, creamy, rocky tanned head that creeps up the sides of the glass. Taste, too, is exotic, flavors mentioned before but with peaty malt, wood, and light figs entering in. Crisp and playful mouthfeel, full body. Not really dry at all, though the woodiness almost serves the purpose. Earthy, spicy undertones, blending extremely well with the sugar. No real hop presence. Touch of warmth from the alcohol. Class and memorably unique!

UPDATED: MAR 11, 2007 draft.
Very dark, almost black appearance with decent head that stays. Very nice hoppy aroma. The taste is awesome with a lite carbonation and a well balanced body. Slightly sweet with a hint of brown sugar and raisins. Very good on draft. Cheers!
Update: 750ml - still great taste. What I love about this beer is the sweet malty background you get as your drinking it. Outstanding.
