Notes of spice on the tip of tongue. A cloudy, reddish color, very nice. Head doesn’t last too long. A subtle beer that finishes clean and is easy on the palate. Sweet with a good sense of malt and hops.

The Scottish cousin sets up his own piece of earth…On it he cultivates chocolatey raisins, dry fruit and caramel…Once in a while he spreads them out on the ground with some bitter orange peels and woody hops…Let the jig begin…

750 ml bottle, best before end 2013. Served in a tulip glass, the beer pours a murky reddish/brown color with a tan cola-like fizzy head. Head retention is good, with a decent amount of lacing. Aroma is dark fruit, brown sugar, caramel and a bit of spicyness. The brew tastes like caramel, dark fruit, nuts, bready malt, and a bit of nutmeg along with an earthy taste. There’s also a slight bittersweet finish. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit creamy and is well carbonated. Drinkability is good, it’s smooth and enjoyable. I think it’s a good solid brew.

750ml bottle from SAQ out of chalice. pours a murky dark brown that leaves a small, quickly dissipating head. aroma is pretty sweet, with dark fruits and molasses. taste is spicy, bready, lots of darker fruits and yeast, sweet malty finish. very carbonated, feels nice on the palate. a very good beer, my favourite from d’ Achouffe.
