Poured a cark amber color with a medium sized off white heard and some lacing on the glass. Spicy, fruity, slightly malty aroma. Dark fruits, and sweet caramel are prominent in the taste. Hard carbonated mouthfeel, but I too, would classify this as a dubbel.

On tap. Pours a dark brown color with pillowy tan head. Aroma is spicy and malty, hints of citrus and caramel. Flavor is very balanced, rich malty, hints of scotch, molasses, quick finish. All around well made and enjoyable beer, exactly what you expect for a Belgian take on Scotch ale.

Some of my friends have gone crazy about this lately. You can get a nice glass with some bottles of it if you're interested. I really like this stuff. It is readily available in Australia, and makes a great dinner ale. Beautiful.

Now this is a Chouffe I can enjoy. A great overall beer that I haven’t had in a while, but I remember loving it. I recently got a bottle from a bud for my b-day, so I must rerate.

An intresting crossover of two styles in never imagined together but probably should have, seeing how nice they pair here in this beer. Dark ruby color with a fluffy head. Earthy aromas with notes of dark fruit and yeast. Malty, but not overly sweet flavor. Quite complex, with flavors of plum, carmel, and spicy hops. Finish is nice and dry with herbal tones. I can’t believe I waited as long as I did to sample this great beer. I wonder how it would age?

On Tap @ Twisted Spoke, Chicago--Poured russet, murky with a quickly dissipating head. I was surprised to see this is a Scotch Ale as it has a lot of Belgian charcteristics to it. Definitely some dried fruit to this and some banana. Extremely drinkable, alcohol is hidden unbelievably. Finish is great with slight bitterness and full malt. Have to try the bottle for measure, but really loved it on tap. Great glass.

Lots of aroma - orange, plum, spice, sweet malt, chocolate. Big tan head that dissipates slowly. Hazy burgundy burnt copper colour.Chocolatey flavour with some dark fruitiness and a little bit of spice. Alcohol definite in the finish. Flavour not quite as deep as I was expecting from that heady nose but all in all very enjoyable. Medium-light body is entirely appropriate for style but perhaps a tad over carbonated. I'm going to put a couple of these down and try them again in a year or two. Bottle.

brown appearance. lots of caramel and toffee. tons of carbonation. a bit disappointing actually, but, considering the alcohol content and the style, a beer that was very easy to drink.
