Dark brown with perfect pillow head. Aroma is sweet malt with an underpinning of very slightly sour Belgian yeast. Flavor is malty, with a touch of earthiness and Belgian yeast character. Could have been a hair more complex, but quite satisfying overall.

Deep brown color with a nice tan head. Complex aroma- sweet malt, chocolate, spice, some fruit. Caramel flavor along with malt and spice. Medium bodied and smooth, slight alcohol warmth. Good Belgian/Scottish Ale

That commercial description is pretty short and lame. It’s much more that that. This is a wonderful brew! Deep and chewy. Malty nice, like I like.

Pours a cloud reddish brown, a nice big off-white head. The aroma is sweet, spices. Malty flavour with caramel notes, recedes to a finish of grassy, snow-pea hops. Lively carbonation, yet smooth and full bodied. Good beer. Bottle.

Tap. Pours clear brown with an average, frothy beige head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, toasted), light hops (herbal), and average esters (fruity) with notes of dates. Flavor is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, toasted), light hops (herbal), and average esters (fruity) with notes of dates and brown sugar. Full body, medium warmth, carbonation, and creaminess with a dry finish.

Light brown pour that reddens to the light. Nose is restrained a bit with a general sweetish malt/caramel scent. Palate is soft with a fair amount of carbonation. Flavor improves upon the nose with raisin, plum, caramel and a nice roast/smoke malt finish. Nicely marries Scotch ale flavors with Belgian drinkability. A standard bearer.

Pours opaque dark brown w/ full semi creamy froth. The aroma is like a nose in a bag of chilled dried fruit. Medium nectar w/ ample residual effers. Flavors are strong and semi sweet w/ an alcoholic warming. Cherry, raison, apricot, nectarine, slight medicine, oak bark, gravel, brown sugar. A very complex brew. Didn’t open up upon warming. I expected some biscuit/ pancake flavors to come forth but nothing of the sort. Just dried fruit.
