Deep Ruby, brown color. Active bubbles, thin collar. Aroma: Figs? Licorice? Herby..Thyme? just a touch...Carmel, malt, dark malt. intriguing aromatics with a bit of barn in there. Palate: light and fizzy Dark malt, some sweetness with a dry finish. flavor was not as complex as the aroma. Some carmel. good beer, don't know that I need to rush out and buy a case of it though. Enjoyed it much more after it warmed and the CO2 diminished. Too fizzy for me at first(old bottle?) Turned into mellow sweetness with herby accents.

This beer is an almost clear, deep amber color that has ruby highlights when held up to the light. It is topped by a thin light brown head. The aroma s slightly tart with notes of dry raisin character, bits of toffee, a touch of roasty almost coffee-like notes, and a finish that reminds me of rum.

The taste is rich with a fruity sweetness that is a mix of raisins, figs and a hint of toffee. The finish has a light, though sharp bitterness and a certain astringency or spiciness that is fermentation driven. Either way these notes in the finish provide a great balance to the sweet, fruity character found up front. This beer has a really nice balance to it that makes it quite enjoyable. It is rich and satisfying with out being cloying, or even without destroying the smooth drinkability of this beer.

Amber, creamcolored head. Malty vanilla aroma with some nutty notes. Vanilla in flavor as well, floral and with some fruit. Mild finish.

Decadantly frothy, creamy tan head rests lovingly atop a ruby tinged bold brown body. Toffee sweet malt almost overpowers but then brown sugar drew me in and introduced me to some nice yeastiness. Perhaps some raisin and caramel flavours but mostly just a mildly spicy warming body. Mouth-coating sweetness is cut lightly in the end. Very nice.

11.2 oz bottle - Pours reddish brown with a moderately sized, foamy head. The aroma is sweet, yeasty, and has some caramel. The malty flavor has some good dark fruit notes hiding in there. It’s medium bodied and goes down easy at 8.5% abv. I hadn’t pegged this as a Scotch Ale as the Belgian character is definitely there. I suppose it’s a hybrid of sorts. Good beer.

On Tap-Judges Bench-Ellicott City Md.-Mahogany color w/a moderate off white head. Sweet malty aroma. Sweet roasted malt flavor hit you right away, also had some dark fruit to it along w/some raisins & figs, but the malt was most prevalent. A little sweeter than most scotch ales, really seemed like a Belgian & a Scotch Ale combined. Different, but pretty good.

Looks lovely. Caramel orange with a medium/large light tan head. Malt, alcohol, dark fruit, yeast, spice, caramel, and light citrus. Sweet, malts, spices, and a little alcohol. Finishes with a warm alcohol sensation. Nice, smooth body. Very good, but after a 750ml of it I grew a litle tired of it. I’d buy it again, though.
