Best before date - End 2006. Semi-hazy amber/copper with a thick and sticky light tan head. Moderate carbonation. Yeasty and light tangy peat aroma mixed with spicy hops. Bubbly body, very young tasting and not integrated with no one flavor dominating. Nice full Belgian yeast mouthfull, but the body is lacking. Light to medium body with no thick malt backbone. It’s there but not very evident. Light sweetness and a very very light peat essence. Head remains solid and sticky throughout. Spicy Saaz hoppiness takes over towards the end. Adding the yeast mellows the brew and also adds some bitter fruit and mild banana flavors. Aging should mellow this into a beauty. This one is obviously way too young.

UPDATED: APR 13, 2007 Bottled. Plum, raisin and light lactic aroma. Brown color, beige head, good lace. Light sweet, licorice, plum, dark malts. Sparkling and warming. Very nice beer I could easily drink all night and sleep like a baby.

UPDATED: MAR 28, 2003 Cloudy, amber/brown. Nice head and lace. Aroma of yeas, bready malt, citric hops, flowers and more. Yeasty on the palate along with cola, bread, citric and peppery notes, hops and spices come out towards the end. Slightly acidic/sour and well balanced. Easy to drink with a hell of a kick, alcohol is masterfully hidden. Needs more body and I feel the malts werent as assertive as they should have been. Its good but nothing to scream and shout about. I will give it another shot after I leave a bottle to sit for awhile.

Dark brown color, tall tan head, seems highly carbonated.Fruity aroma with hints of alcohol and hops, and mild malt. The taste was quite good malty well carbonated and fruity with a mild spice to it.This doesn't seem much like a scottish ale with this much carbonation and it doesn't have the body to fit the style IMO,but still its a fine brew and the price is right for the size bottle it comes in.

Definite fruity flavor. A bit sweet for my taste, but not all together bad.

Great foamy head. Chocolate brown. Spicy, peppery. Noticeable alcohol taste, not a problem. Molasses and fruity malt, hops are gentle. I love dAchouffe and their line of friendly, sweet, clean, spicy and complex beers. This one fits right in. I need to try aging some of this.

Dark tawny brown beer with an off-white tannish head that has nice retention. Aroma has rich caramel malts with earthy yeast and toffee. There also seems to be a bit of spice in the background. Mouthfeel is just a bit over medium with carbonation that is between fizzy and frothy. Taste is split between Scotch ale and Belgium strong, but lean a bit more towards the scotch side. Taste has lots of toffee and caramel richness with some dark fruits hanging around. Finish has spice and earthiness. Overall a very nice beer to be savored.

A Scotch Ale? This is easily the best scotch ale I have ever had. The pour is brown with a tall bubbly, soapy head. The aroma is spicy and raisany. There is plenty of sparkling carbonation. Quite refreshing and very good at clearing the palate. No lingering aftertaste or film in my mouth like I have experienced with cheaper scotch ales I have had before. This was delicious.
