Interesting combo of typical belgian brown ale flavors, mixed with Scottish caramely sweetness. Unusual aroma. Small sharp bubbles up front, but smoother as it warmed. My friend pointed out that there""s a strong Coca-Cola flavor in this, and I agree.

My preference between the La and the Mc. Bit more body and dirtier goodness in this one.

Bottle @ home. Pours a deep red with a small off-white head. Faint aroma of malt and caramel, but not much else. Great taste of malt, caramel, molasses, fruits and spices. Full bodied with a fair bit of carbonation, some alcohol in the finish and a dry bitter aftertaste. Damn good Belgian strong ale.

Bottle. very dark ruby red body, nice thick ff-white head, slightly cirtusy barley aroma, warming drinking experience with a caramel and malty taste. Lovely!

Dark, medium foam, full flavor, sweet, strong caramel and roasted barley scent. Not too bitter, one of the top dubbels.

Amber with good head. smells of spices and malty caramel. Creamy in the mouth. Malty sweetness again and some spices. Aftertaste is slightly bitter, but malts form the red thread all the way to the end. Good balance. Prefer its blonde sibling.

Bottle 330ml @ home
Pours clear deep amber brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, dried fruits and hint of alcohol. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long fruity and caramel finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

From tasting notes. Bottle. Pours hazy brown with a small beige head. Aroma of spices, dark malts, light chocolate and some citrus and earthy hop notes. Moderate spiced flavor balanced by some brown sugar/molasses notes. Light chocolate and citrus notes as well. Earthy, spicy and slightly bitter finish.
