3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 daleharshman (664) - San Diego, USA - OCT 30, 2009
750 mL bottle from Total Wine in Tustin ($8.99). Pours a murky dark chestnut with a couple finger of beige head that does not last for long. Aroma is dark fruit, toffee, and yeast. Despite the style labeling, there’s no mistaking this as Belgian in origin -- it smells a lot like a quad or dubbel. Flavor of raisins, lightly smoked malt, caramel, spice, and brown sugar. It’s sweet like a good Scotch ale, but lacking somewhat in overall complexity. Light in body with a tangy finish.

Deep brown coloured beer, a bit watery with a slight bitterness, not very big on taste
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 TomTrogh (11) - BELGIUM - FEB 10, 2012
Geur varieert tussen neutraal en gebakken banaan en koriander. Gebrand, maar het bitter duikt pas (een beetje) op in de nasmaak.

Draught at Ninkasi Public house Tel Aviv. Pours dark reddish-brown with full, light tan head. Nose: cinnamon, pepper, cloves - very rich and spicey. Bitter but sweetness reveals itself while sipping through. Full body, medium carbonation, long finish and all in all fun.
3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Douberd (15) - NETHERLANDS - FEB 2, 2012
Poured, from a 330 ml bottle.
Very dark brown colour which turns to a deep amber against the light, with minimal bubbles. Head is brownish, leaving a light lacing on the glass as it fades out (fast).
Nice sweet aroma of vanilla and fruit.
Taste is bitter and follows the aroma, the 8% alcohol is not so obvious. Medium thin bodied on palate, lightly carbonation.
Overall a great brown beer that I would happily suggest.

Another fantastic chouffe product. Nice roasted brown malts, solid belgian yeast, slightly fruity with a nice amount of spices upfront. very smooth with a little sweetness. Lovely balance. One of my favourites.
