Bügelverschlußflasche: Deep golden, hazy, stable and lacy loose white head, grainy nose, distinctive toasty-caramelly undertones, very delicate of hops detectable, too; light to moderate sweet-bitter flavour, pretty light bodied - almost watery, but soft, no doubt; very faint hints of smoke(?!) in the soft grainy and bitter finish. Still good, but unfortunately a bit too thin…

UPDATED: AUG 10, 2015 Anniversary beer for the 200th years of existence of this Bavarian family brewery, thanks to Joke for bringing me this bottle! Tasted as P-D 1813 Hell Naturtrüb, but this is more or less the same thing as the 1813 Spezial Naturtrüb listed here, just in a slightly less strong version (4.9% ABV) and with somewhat different label. Comes from an old school German swing top bottle of 50 cl; the back label recommends shaking loose the yeast at the bottom before consumption, as in a Hefeweizen. Hazy peach blonde colour with orange hue, medium fizz, crowned with a moussy, off-white, lacing head of medium thickness, thinning after a while but retaining well on the edges and leaving a greyish veil over the liquid. Sweetish grainy aroma of unprocessed pale malts, dry cookies, old cake, hints of caramel candy, ’natural’ iron, biscuit, butterscotch, baked banana, plaster, old powder sugar or even artificial aspartame-like sweetener though this is not effectively used, butterscotch, damp cellar, cloth, some faint freshly cut grass. Apart, perhaps, from the biscuity smell, there is little of the smokiness promised on the label. Rounded, soft, sweetish graininess in the mouth, a tad caramelly and certainly biscuity, with fairly soft carbonation, slick, somewhat buttery but a bit thin body, flowing smoothly over the tongue; finish is a mere continuation of this without much change, though a very weak grassy hop echo is noticeable, providing only the faintest of bitterness, which is probably not intended here in the first place anyway. Straightforward but ’pure’ German malty lager, lacks the effervescence of a Zwickelbier and the hop character of a Kellerbier, so let’s resort to the dustbin category of Landbier then... Not unlike some of the slightly darker, sweeter, maltier pale lagers that are sometimes brought forth by larger breweries as alternatives to their regular standard pales (Grolsch’ Kornuit springs to mind). I wonder why this brewery produced something this simple to celebrate their 200th birthday, considering they make e.g. Dunkelweizen, Bock etc. as well...

Nice drinker with enough malt and yeast character. Lightly hazed copper-orange color, head fades quicker than I’d like. Sweetish, fruity and grainy nose -- mild whiffs of caramel, toasted nuts, grain bag and candied orange peel. Flavor is lighter than it could be, starting lightly sweet but winding up dryish, riding mild spicy bitterness. Ultimately it is a reasonably malty beer without being a sweet one. Have been working my way through a case of this, and it grows on me with each bottle.

Bottled. Hazy golden, brief head. Fruity caramelly nose. Mid sweet with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Not really firm, some caramel and ripe fruits. Low bitterness.

Bottle from Getränke Diesel in Siegen. Pours out in a hazy a´golden-amber colour with steady big head and medium body. Aroma of peat, smoke and hops. Taste of barbecued sausages, peat, torf, hops and bread. Smokey finish. Couldn’t enjoy it.

Orange, doch noch relativ klar für naturtrüb, malzig in der Nase und Antrunk, sehr lasch, kaum Geschmack, irgendwie abgestanden, pelzig, nichts für mich

Bottle. Cloudy orange amber, golden foam. Malty aroma with Landbier salty butterscotch notes. Medium body, mellow mouthfeel. Chewy grain, slightly dusty, clay notes, a bit fruityness, grassy earthy finish, stoneware aftertaste even though I was drinking it out of a glass.

Swing top bottle of 0,5 l Appearance: Golden color with a 2 finger sized head , leaving a few lacing spots. Aroma:Malty bready, paper, golden delicious and light floral notes. In the end a bit borring brew, but ok.
