COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Nitrogen is what distinguishes McAuslan Cream Ale from the crowd. Draft beer is usually pressurized with carbon dioxide. The addition of nitrogen to the mixture helps create a thicker, longer-lasting head. The nitrogen also helps smooth away some of the characteristic carbon dioxide bite often associated with North American drafts. Our Cream Ale, known as McAuslan Smooth Ale in the US, has a beautiful long-lasting head and a full-bodied silky texture that make it a unique taste experience.

This (for the time being) has got to be my favorite beer. It beats Kilkenny (as a creamy ale), but the problem is that you cannot get it any other way then a keg (as the nitro is needed). That means you have to have it in a pub. Creamy as hell. Wow, wow, wow !! Highly addictive. Wish they would make it in a 500ml can (just like the Guinness can).

on tap at the brewery. pours a light copper with a thick, creamy head that leaves incredible lacing. typical "nitro" look, with the surge taking a good minute or so. not much going on in the aroma. malts and hops, some fruits too. taste is the same, nothing complex in the slightest. the mouthfeel is where this beer wins me over. creamy and smooth, delightful on the palate. easy drinking and creamy tasting. a great beer.

On tap at the Harbord Room. Pours an orangey gold colour with an average-sized, creamy white head; excellent lacing. Light aroma of fruit and grains. Taste is mildly fruity although not too sweet with some light hopping. Smooth feel. Decent.

On tap. Smooth and drinkable. Amazing creamy white head. Texture is fantastic. Flavour was that of a regular malty beer with some hops in the finish. This didn’t have the ’fake’ or ’plastic’ feel that most cream ales I’ve had end up producing. Quite good.

Aroma is of some malt, and some sweetness with a faint bit of hops. The best part of this beer is how smooth it is going down, when you get a good malt palate with a bit of sweetness, not sure where it comes from, and a bit of hop finish. A decent fairly unique beer.

Light copper pour with a thick frothy nitro head. Aroma is caramel malt, some grain, and toasty notes. Flavor is also quite grainy with some bitterness to complement a mild sweet malt presence. Palate is chewy but deceivingly thin. A great session brew, but by no means a fireside sipper or tasting breakout delicatessen.

On tap at Le Moulin de Wakefield. Aroma is hop, malt and fruity. Nice thick froth on top. Taste is smooth and complex. Light malt flavour with a slight hop bitterness in the aftertaste. This is a very nice beer. I’d have it anytime.

Appearance: initial ’nitro’ look, creamy, milky. Settles into a fine looking Amber with a proud White head. Aroma: decent amount of hops, candy, malt and a hint of single malt scotch. Flavour: nice woody start, malt, some candy hops and again a single malt flavour in the finish. Quite a creamy mouthfeel. Decent brew indeed. I don’t know how this one flew under my radar for so long.
