COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Nitrogen is what distinguishes McAuslan Cream Ale from the crowd. Draft beer is usually pressurized with carbon dioxide. The addition of nitrogen to the mixture helps create a thicker, longer-lasting head. The nitrogen also helps smooth away some of the characteristic carbon dioxide bite often associated with North American drafts. Our Cream Ale, known as McAuslan Smooth Ale in the US, has a beautiful long-lasting head and a full-bodied silky texture that make it a unique taste experience.

On tap at the Library Pub in Wolfville, N.S. Copper colour with a creamy head. Smooth texture. Earthy malt flavour. Not bad, drinkable cream ale.

Pint at The Kick Off in Waterloo. Taps a darker gold with a huge nitro’d white head (took a couple minutes to settle). The aroma is peachy, apply, pale malty and with a touch of piny hops. The flavour was the same malty sweet aspects with some very nice and surprising hop presence in the finish to add very nice balance. The hops took me by surprise here as I’ve never encountered them in a cream ale before. Very smooth, I could throw back several pints of this easily. Definitely the best cream ale I’ve ever had.

On tap. The look and mouthfeel of this beer are excellent which is good because you can’t really rate a cream ale on it’s wide variety of aromas and flavors. Still they are quite decent, malty with with fine hops a bit on the watery side for the taste.

On tap. Pours amber with thick white head. Nice medium malts with bits of hops. Not as tasty as the pale or oatmeal stout, but an easy drinking beer.

On tap at Le Turf, Quebec City. Poured amber with a big creamy head lacing and stayed untill the end. Nice looking. Aroma is faint hops. Taste is faint hop and citrusy. Mouthfeel is great. Not much complexity. Quite like the Pale Ale (which I like a lot) with less aroma and flavour. Not bad but not as good as their Pale ale. Rating #110

Nitro draught at C’est What, Toronto. Fresh from the tap, this was beautifully cloudy in the top third of the glass, gradually becoming a transparent orange colour with a thick, creamy, persistent head. The aroma was a bit faint with some orange and breadiness. This was quite refreshing, with a relatively thick, creamy mouthfeel. There was orange and lemon in the flavour, with pine and a fresh but modest hop bitterness.

[1757-20081003] Tap. Mild grainy bread dough yeast aroma. Clear, amber red body with a long-lasting thick creamy white head and some lacing. Fruity grainy yeast flavour has mostly bread dough notes with a hint of cooked broccoli. Medium body is creamy. Very fresh, very nice, in super condition.
