COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Nitrogen is what distinguishes McAuslan Cream Ale from the crowd. Draft beer is usually pressurized with carbon dioxide. The addition of nitrogen to the mixture helps create a thicker, longer-lasting head. The nitrogen also helps smooth away some of the characteristic carbon dioxide bite often associated with North American drafts. Our Cream Ale, known as McAuslan Smooth Ale in the US, has a beautiful long-lasting head and a full-bodied silky texture that make it a unique taste experience.

On draught at Dieu du Ciel, 3/6/05 with Muzzlehatch and tiggmtl. Had this while waiting for our bottle of Péché Mortel to warm up. Lightly hazy, apricot colored beer with a creamy white head, pretty much like it looks to the left. Sweet and sour aroma of fruity ale yeast with a touch of sourness. Flavor is again sweet and sour and it seems the yeast has a lot of influence on this beer, as it does with many cream ales. But, I felt there wasn’t enough else going on besides the light fruitiness from the ale yeast and the mildly crisp finish. The damned head was annoying when I was trying to drink this, because I kept getting sips of the head, which was very tastless and foamy. A little bit of dry caramel on the finish, dough and a light spiciness from the yeast, again. A well made ale/lager. Medium body, light wateriness at the end, pleasant carbonation and no alcohol.

better than most, I don’t think I’ve ever been extremly impressed with a cream ale. this seems hoppier than most. I can’t say I don’t like it, but the flavour is a little muffled

Creamy golden body, thick white head. Flavour and aroma are just not quite there, some hoppiness, but the beer is only held up by its creaminess. Little to see here, but not bad. Draught.

Stood out from the crowd in the mini-sampler at the Bow & Arrow. Nice amber colour with creamy, frothy head. Hops and citrus and malty aromas from this medium bodied beer. Creamy, slow slightly bitter finish. Nice.

Draught. Gold with a thick creamy head. Flavours are dull but good. Rounded fruity malts with a light hopped finished. It's good for a cream ale. The style is just so boring and disappointing for the most part.

Draught at C’est What, shared with HogTownHarry. Pours a slightly hazy dark orange with an average size lasting creamy white head. Nice lacing. Mild aroma of floral hops, fruit and some malt. The flavour is fruity with a nice light bitterness -- the hops are a nice surprise considering how lame this style usually is. Mouthfeel is creamy but a tad thin. Definitely the best Cream Ale I’ve had but that’s not saying much.

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2006 Draught. At C’est What, shared with blankboy. Poured hazy light coppy with a decent, very creamy lasting off-white head. Remarkably light aroma of fresh floral hops, sweet mild grainy malt, and an odd whisper of floral hand soap. Flavour is a nice balance of sweet malt and dry floral hops, the finish is lightly bitter. Mouthfeel is watery and lightly astringent, somewhat flat. This is okay, easy to drink, but while it’s maybe as good a cream ale as I’ve ever had, that’s still faint praise.

A pint on draught at Le Grillon in Montréal. Copper colour, nice thick head, white and creamy, it’s a cream ale. Light aroma of hops, and malt. Nice and savoury taste of malt and a creamy texture.

Rafraichissant.

On tap at the Harbord Room. Pours an orangey gold colour with an average-sized, creamy white head; excellent lacing. Light aroma of fruit and grains. Taste is mildly fruity although not too sweet with some light hopping. Smooth feel. Decent.
