4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Une des meilleur bière que j’ai goûter de ma vie.
À essayer au moins une fois dans sa vie, une pure merveille de chez nous.
J’ai été agréablement surpris par le goût riche de cette bière.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
341 ml bottle. Pours a dark orangey brown with a resilient, beige-orange head. Smells of burnt caramel. Tastes of vanilla, caramel, some spices and herbs. Hoppy, herbal, lingering finish. Body is creamy and oily. Delightful!

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle 341ml from King&Godfree. I have a cold, but I still could appreciate the great aromas, this is a great beer. The nose has caramel, vanilla, and butterscotch. Taste is sweet, with light bitterness, and long length. Palate is velvety and smooth. Brown, with a thin head.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Hard to find this beer, especially at a decent price. I picked up the ’WinterFest’ 6 pack (LCBO) which included 2 of these along with 2 Oatmeal and 2 Blonde.
I haven’t had one of these in a few years due to limited availability. I really enjoyed this one, and took a long while sipping it slowly. Caramel, slight peat and butterscotch flavour. Well done

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Acheté au dépanneur Grand Duc. Brassin 2005 (code MO15).

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This is an excellent Scotch Ale. Very similar to Neustadt Scotch Ale. A bit stronger in the alcohol department, and a bit sweeter compared to the Neustadt. I enjoyed this a lot. I will buy it again.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: SEP 7, 2009 This is getting harder and harder to find... 7,17$ for a 341ml bottle! Quality and intense pleasure of drinking is expected at this price. I bought it today and the best before date codifies MO15 08:36. What the hell am I supposed to understand? Anyway, I’m sure it has at least a few years of aging because I bought it at a humanity-forgotten convenient store. I enjoyed it better than the one I had something like a year ago; aging is turning this malty beast into some kind of antique scottish goddess of caramel sweetness! Exquisite sweet aroma, there is also various interesting subtle notes in the taste that has become pretty complex (figs, tongue-tiingling hop bitterness, wood, vinous notes, others for sure). I will probably be the one who will buy the 4 or 5 bottles left a this store but I’ll take my time to see what it will still become...

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
341ml bottle. Pours an opaque dark chestnut, verging on black, with a medium beige head, which lasts extremely well, leaving good lacing. The aroma is dark, sweet and malty, with brown sugar, Irish cream and soft toffee prominent, as well as a slightly musty loam aroma. Hops, as one would expect of the style, are practically non-existent. An extremely mild, soft bitterness introduces the beer, with a touch of whipped cream coming in soon after. The body of this beer is thick and almost treacle-like in its consistency, with molasses and slightly burnt caramel notes, as well as cinnamon and raisin toast. The finish evokes the thick bittersweetness of Turkish coffee, and is delightfully drawn-out. I do love a good Scotch ale, and this is a top-notch example. As with all beers of the style, it is definitely one to sip, not a session ale, but this simply means one has more time to enjoy it.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: MAY 13, 2007 (Bottle 341ml in a tube) . Although it says “best before mo 15 08:31qc” on the label this is the actual bottling date = Dec 01-2005 at 8:31
Beautiful red-amber colour and a small fast fading beige head. Malt and a strong rum alcohol nose which prevents me from smelling the vanilla. Faint caramel and possibly some liquorice presence and some ginger !!! Quite a tingle on the tongue. Like someone else mentioned I would like to see more caramel malt depth for a better balance achievement. Rather expensive at $6.99 can. Will re-rate again after my other bottles have aged a few months.
2007-05-13 Original rating 3.1 After aging for 16 months and tasting 4 differents bottles I must admit that I felt in love with this beer.
