Gooner (136), Chatham, Ontario, Canada Dec 23, 2001 This is an excellent Scotch Ale. Very similar to Neustadt Scotch Ale. A bit stronger in the alcohol department, and a bit sweeter compared to the Neustadt. I enjoyed this a lot. I will buy it again. radiomgb (1730), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Aug 10, 2003 Deep amber in colour. Aroma of caramel, malt, alcohol. Flavour is creamy, alcohol, sweet, malty. Finishes smooth, slightly sweet, slight hops. hopscotch (4433), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Apr 14, 2008 Bottle... This beer rocks!... Clear, very dark, ruby ale with a mid-sized, creamy, lightly tanned head. Rich, vinous aroma puts forward generous notes of port wine and a medley of dark fruits. I’m picking up a suggestion of smoke as well. Full-bodied and oily with modest carbonation. Sweet port and dark fruits blend nicely with light chocolate and minerals. Chocolaty-sweet, vinous finish. These guys get it! Thanks to mcbackus for sharing this world class brew! rsans (125), Pont-Rouge, Quebec, Canada Dec 20, 2005 Updated: May 13, 2007(Bottle 341ml in a tube) . Beautiful red-amber colour and a small fast fading beige head. Malt and a strong rum alcohol nose which prevents me from smelling the vanilla. Faint caramel and possibly some liquorice presence and some ginger !!! Quite a tingle on the tongue. Like someone else mentioned I would like to see more caramel malt depth for a better balance achievement. Rather expensive at $6.99 can. Will re-rate again after my other bottles have aged a few months.
2007-05-13 Original rating 3.1 After aging for 16 months and tasting 4 differents bottles I must admit that I felt in love with this beer. Simon_Patrice (312), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Jun 11, 2002 Nice mahogany color with a big head. Roasted malt and toffee aroma. A full bodied beer with butterscotch, malt and alcohol flavors. A really nice beer in my book.
