wilderthanyou (310), Guelph, Ontario, Canada Jul 8, 2007 Dark copper body with a cm or so of tan head with good retention. Aroma of malts and caramel with lighter notes of vanilla. Flavour has a strong malty base, with notes of butterscotch, vanilla, with some light notes of white chocolate and a touch of hops at the end. I Really enjoyed this beer. If it wasn’t so expensive I’d buy more. A top notch beer.
BlackForestCO (521), Fort Collins and Black Forest, Colorado, USA Jun 8, 2008 Bottle shared by mmtmatrix, thanks man. Poured a deep garnett red-brown color with a moderate off-white head that fades to a layer. Aroma of sweet malt with some moderate fruit and a hint of caramel. Sweet, lightly fruity (apple) maltiness with some moderate caramel and a hint of raisin on the finish. Smooth, a bit thin, but some decent dryness on the finish. Crosling (1644), Loveland, Colorado, USA Jun 1, 2008 Dark bronze color. Filmy, layered foam. Aroma shows a touch of maple, peat, caramel and toast, with a touch of oxidation. Flavor shows a lot of oxidation. Some toast, sweet malts, maple. I don’t care for it. after4ever (1717), Brier, Washington, USA May 12, 2008 33cl. Thanks, Glouglouburp! Dig the fancy cardboard can. Pours opaque super-dark brown with a thin, creamy tan head. Decent webby lacing. Brown bready, yeasty, pleasant nose. Medium, creamy body. Caramel, biscuit, not so much on the vanilla and butterscotch the brewer promises. More like brown bread crust. Mild earthy finish. Nice stuff. hopscotch (4477), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Apr 14, 2008 Bottle... This beer rocks!... Clear, very dark, ruby ale with a mid-sized, creamy, lightly tanned head. Rich, vinous aroma puts forward generous notes of port wine and a medley of dark fruits. I’m picking up a suggestion of smoke as well. Full-bodied and oily with modest carbonation. Sweet port and dark fruits blend nicely with light chocolate and minerals. Chocolaty-sweet, vinous finish. These guys get it! Thanks to mcbackus for sharing this world class brew! mcbackus (638), Merritt Island, Florida, USA Apr 13, 2008 bottle thanks to robinboyer:
