COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with victory malt and has a less pronounced hop profile that allows the spices to come to the fore and contributes to a harmonious, balanced brew. September to December.

341ml bottle pours an orangeish color with a finger of white head that leaves some thin lacing on the glass. Aroma is pumpkin and spices. Taste is pumpkin with some spices and light malts and hoppy bitterness coming through in the finish. One of the better pumpkin ales out right now.

Long Island, NY - 12 oz. bottle poured a nice amber/orange color without much head but good lacing. Aroma is of lightly roasted malt and sweet cinnamon. Taste is mild but layered. The pumpkin comes through followed quickly by the malt and then the spice finish. Quite a good pumpkin ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This is a fairly solid pumpkin ale. The aroma is spicy are inviting. The spice and cinnamon are infused in the beer, rather than feeling like an afterthought. Good pumpkin beers are hard to come by, and this is a good one.

Pours a clear copper color with a frothy white head. Aroma is cinnamon and caramel. Taste is pumpkin, cinnamon, and toffee. Finishes smooth with a pumpkin aftertaste that leaves you wanting more. Very enjoyable.

Bottle as St. Ambroise Pumpkin from Malt & Vine. Purs ruddy copper with a 2 finger foamy off- white head. Pie spice aroma. Smells much more like pumpkin pie than many. Med body. It’s really spicy. Liquid pumpkin pie. What else can be said?

Poured into a pint glass. My label has "Pumpkin" instead of "Citrouille" if that means anything. 2.5 A: Clear orange amber color. Just one finger of head that fell almost instantly and left no lacing. 3.5 S: Lots of pumpkin spices: nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, the allspice family. Not much in terms of actual pumpkin. As much of a sucker as I am for these spices, overall the nose seems somewhat hollow. By that I mean that the base beer seems to be nothing more than a vehicle to deliver spices. Perhaps a bit of breadiness, but not much going on on the malt front. 3.0 T: It appears my nose was onto something. The spices are there and doing their thing just fine, but the rest of the beer never showed up. There’s just a touch of breadiness and maybe the lightest touch of caramel. In any case, there isn’t enough maltiness in here to make me happy. Again, I’m not really picking up any pumpkin. 2.5 M: Lighter body. Good moderate carbonation. The light body makes sense given the lack of maltiness in the taste. Give me more malt and thus a thicker body and I’ll be much more happy. 3.0 D: Far too many breweries adopt the strategy of brewing a weak, mediocre beer, adding spices, and calling it a pumpkin beer. It’s frustrating since they are amazing when done well. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 10-05-2011 23:06:52
