Oakes (6973), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jul 17, 2001 I’ve had a few pumpkin ales and this is the best - sublime balance, gorgeous sweet malts, lively spicing. It is the Buffalo Bill’s Pumpkin Ale brewed under contract, but they don’t call it that because Canadian’s don’t know who Bill Owens is. I find it better than the same beer made by Portland Brewing. Rastacouere (5343), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Oct 1, 2007 Clear dark orange coloured ale topped by a small off-white cover that recedes to nothingness. I’ll be more than surprised if actual pumpkin flesh was used, but nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves can be smelled amidst a wave of emptiness. Very thin-bodied, clean and softly carbonated. Very bland caramelly maltiness. It’s not that I hate the style more than anyone else, I actually really like the one from Southampton, but I found this rather atrocious, completely soulless, just vagabonding spices on a bed of malts that remain as thin as it gets. MartinT (4377), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jul 5, 2002 A lot of spices…Ginger, cinnamon, cloves maybe…Subtle bitterness… tiggmtl (4179), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Sep 2, 2005 Sweet and spicy aroma. Clear tan-golden colour with low but lasting white head. Biscuity malt flavour shines through the spicy flavour with low bitterness. Light, dry body with decent carbonation. Bottle. Entered from notes.
CapFlu (3339), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Jan 11, 2003 Mmmm... goes nice with Thanksgiving Turkey. Pumpkin aroma. Spicy flavour with finish of malt. Bout average.
