3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Originally rated March 2008. Wow... never thought I would be able to taste this one (since they had discontinued it a while back). Now, it is back... and this one is a 2007 edition. Pours a brown-ruby clear colour with an off-white head which has average retention and hardly any lace. Very nice nose, full of cinnamon spice with a touch of nutmeg. Thin mouthfeel and average carbonation. The taste is the same as the scent, mostly cinnamon with a little ginger. Quite a beautiful spiced beer, with no pumpkin in it. Just cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves. Will buy again, at the end of every year when it comes out.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Pours ruby/copper with minimal head and no lacing. Nice slightly spicy cinamon and clove aroma with hints or orange peel and.bitters. The mouthfeel was slightly watery at first, but started to coat well with well balanced spice. Minimal hops with a nice slightly nutty sweetness. Great taste. Decent holiday spice brew.

UPDATED: DEC 13, 2010 341ml bottle. purchased 4 pack for $9 from the grocery store. pours dark amber orange with a thick foamy off white head that quickly dissipates. lots of spices going on in the aroma. cinnamon, ginger, clove, along with pumpkin of course. nutmeg really comes out in the taste. this beer really tastes like pumpkin pie, with a mild hops finish. lovely. the mouthfeel is thin and very carbonated. very impressed with this one. i’ll be serving this for the family on thanksgiving dinner. another great product from McAuslan.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark amber brown pour with a moderate off-white head. Rich pumpkin and ginger spice bread. Slightly acidic flavor, more spice bread and mild pumpkin, moderate bitterness on the finish. Very nice, though I wish the flavor matched up closer with the beautiful aroma.

12 oz bottle
This was found at Warehouse Beverage while looking for other beers. Given the weather and the season it seemed like perfect timing to revisit a brewery whose few offerings to date have impressed me. This one was so-so but given some of the envelope pushing by other breweries more traditional. Unlike some I might be able to drink more than one without feeling like I was slapped in the face with spices and alcohol.
Aroma / Appearance - A mandarin orange body shimmered along with the creamy slightly offwhite head (the color of weathered paper). Fluid and carbonated it made itself known. Heavily spiced pumpkin pie dominated the area around the glass with cinnamon and cloves in the background. Much like a pumpkin roll or scone this was perhaps a little too heavy. Toned down it would be almost perfect.
Flavor / Palate - Light gourds and spices alternate before a mellow finish. Pumpkin continues to be the theme as you’d expect with no big surprises lurking in the aftertaste. More laid back than many of its counterparts this could be improved without giving up the lower ABV. Overall however I feel it’s worth a look at the price point and given the brewery’s track record for solid releases.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours dark red and copper with a small light tan head. Aromas of cinnamon, nutmeg, caramel, buttery dough, and some sour malt. Flavor is slightly sweet caramel malt, cinnamon, and all-spice; not as bold as I expected from the aroma. Good, but a bit lacking.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
I picked this up at Archer Liquors in Chicago, IL; enjoyed during a late afternoon watching football on Sunday. Fantastic pumpkin ale. Aroma of pumpkin, spices, nutmeg, and malt. Appearance is a clear amber with a thin head. Taste smooth and crisp, fantastic pumpkin profile, hints of nutmeg and cinnamon. Great great stuff.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
dark orange with very mild head. nose of cinnamon and ginger. little bitterness before some toasted malt and the above mentioned spices with touches of fruity esters from an english malt prior to a medium-bodied finish with a lingering spice note. a solid pumpkin ale, though ordinary i suppose, but well made nonetheless
