Brewed with victory malt and has a less pronounced hop profile that allows the spices to come to the fore and contributes to a harmonious, balanced brew. September to December.

This was found at Warehouse Beverage while looking for other beers. Given the weather and the season it seemed like perfect timing to revisit a brewery whose few offerings to date have impressed me. This one was so-so but given some of the envelope pushing by other breweries more traditional. Unlike some I might be able to drink more than one without feeling like I was slapped in the face with spices and alcohol.

Aroma / Appearance - A mandarin orange body shimmered along with the creamy slightly offwhite head (the color of weathered paper). Fluid and carbonated it made itself known. Heavily spiced pumpkin pie dominated the area around the glass with cinnamon and cloves in the background. Much like a pumpkin roll or scone this was perhaps a little too heavy. Toned down it would be almost perfect.

Flavor / Palate - Light gourds and spices alternate before a mellow finish. Pumpkin continues to be the theme as you’d expect with no big surprises lurking in the aftertaste. More laid back than many of its counterparts this could be improved without giving up the lower ABV. Overall however I feel it’s worth a look at the price point and given the brewery’s track record for solid releases.

Bottle. Pours dark red and copper with a small light tan head. Aromas of cinnamon, nutmeg, caramel, buttery dough, and some sour malt. Flavor is slightly sweet caramel malt, cinnamon, and all-spice; not as bold as I expected from the aroma. Good, but a bit lacking.

I picked this up at Archer Liquors in Chicago, IL; enjoyed during a late afternoon watching football on Sunday. Fantastic pumpkin ale. Aroma of pumpkin, spices, nutmeg, and malt. Appearance is a clear amber with a thin head. Taste smooth and crisp, fantastic pumpkin profile, hints of nutmeg and cinnamon. Great great stuff.

dark orange with very mild head. nose of cinnamon and ginger. little bitterness before some toasted malt and the above mentioned spices with touches of fruity esters from an english malt prior to a medium-bodied finish with a lingering spice note. a solid pumpkin ale, though ordinary i suppose, but well made nonetheless

Bottle from Binny’s in Orland Park, IL: This poured a deep orange/amber with a decent off-white head. The aroma was sweet and malty, spiced with the usual seasonal stuff, but not too strong. The flavor was much the same, the spices mainly coming out in the aftertaste. Not bad for a style that doesn’t excite me.

UPDATED: SEP 26, 2010 Bouteille 341 ml. 5%. Couleur rousse-roangée, claire. Mousse beige pâle fugasse. Arôme complexe d’épice, girofle, muscade. En bouche, épice, citrouille et caramel. Finale sans amertume mais où les épices sont très présentes. Très bonne.

Pours a deep orange with a good head. The aroma is very spicy and pumpkin-like. The flavor is lightly tar with a nice pumpkin presence and some fruity hoppiness.

12 oz. bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours a clear amber color with a small off white head. The aroma is sweet malt, caramel, pumpkin, and the usual spices. The flavor has a nice balance between the malt, pumpkin and spices. The body is a bit thin, but overall this is better than most.

Deep amber pour with a thin white head. Bright spicy nose. A bit of clove and allspice. Softly spicy finish over a touch of light amber malt. It comes across as a little bit watery though.

Bottle from trade with cfrancis. Amber color, not much head. Plenty of clove, cinnamon and nutmeg on the nose. Some pumpkin and floral notes as well. Taste is spicy with a hint of nutmeg and some cinnamon. The pumpkin taste is very subtle but very enjoyable. Not at all syrupy or over sweetened. Fairly solid brew.
