Our artisan in charge created the Stoke Bomber Bohemian Ale to straddle the ale/lager debate perfectly. Everyone will enjoy the interaction of wheat and lightly roasted barley with the lively citrus and pepper flavours. The ale team will promote its rich golden hue, fully rounded mouthfeel and engaging honeyed malt complexity. The lager camp will insist that the spicy hop emphasis is classic Bohemian. Which side are you on?

bottle. recent import by Shelton Brothers. opaque dull amber body with a small white head, some lacing. underfermented raw wort nose of Crackliní Oat Bran cereal and dry dog food and creamed wheat and crystal malt, so bad that the enjoyable bright citrus and tropical fruit hops canít save it. goopy, sludgy, thick and chewy body with a lot of unfermented sugar; add strongly bitter high acid hop and itís very stew-like and raw tasting. if they could ferment this out and maybe filter it a little, I can see where it could be and it would be beautiful. maybe this batch is a dud though, I canít imagine Shelton Brother bringing this in if this is the intended smell, flavor and mouthfeel.

The head is ok, the body gold. It smells malty, hoppy, citrus. The taste is hoppy, malty, aromatic, fruity-citrus. Nice 3.5

660mL bottle Clean pale gold body. Holds a decent inch of white foam. Light hop driven aroma; citrus, floral herbs and spice, combine with light pilsner-like maltiness. The slightest hint of bready yeast character. Dry, reasonably light bodied on the palate. Moderate carbonation. Hop flavours again dominate on the body; Citrus leaf, unripe honeydew melon, guava, supported by cereal wheat and cracker biscuit malts with just the faintest hint of corny DMS. Lingering grassy hop bitterness is refreshingly prominent. Nice easy drinking beer - certainly get their idea of combining a Pilsner with an NZPA; good combo.

Slightly cloudy, aroma has some spicy hops and slight stone fruit too. A clean palate, light to medium, good bitterness. An easy summer drinking ale.

Gold coloured with a big attractive head. Weakish aromas of malt, honey and a touch of citrus. Flavours of citrus, caramel malt, bread and a nice spicy/bitter finish. An ale in my mind and a very good one.

UPDATED: JUN 17, 2013 650ml bottle. Poured an uninviting cloudy brown with a one-finger off-white foamy head that diminished quickly but gave good soap-ring-like lacing. Light to moderate carbonation with small bubbles forming trails. Subtle aroma of sweet malt, a trace of hops, very slight roasted grain and maybe a hint of spice and citrus. Taste initially of sweetish malt followed by a citrus bitterness/sourness and a high acid hops on the back palate. Light to medium body. Long slightly acidic and bitter finish.

Bomber---- obviously Hazy straw yellow color, half finger of bright white head. Falls to a thick collar. Good soapy lacing on sides. Spicy nose with citrus and stone fruit. Touches of pepper with slight hints of the malt backbone. Taste is more towards the malt side. Bread and caramel, then citrus and some spice. Medium bodied, prickly carbonation. Spicy, citrus and dry, stale bread finish with hints of honey. Pretty decent actually

Pours a hazy golden colour with a beige head. Aroma is malt, fruit and caramel. Taste is medium sweet of fruit and some bread leading to a dry lightly spicy finish. Not bad.
