3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20 Pyobon (729) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - MAY 11, 2013
(Bottle) Cloudy amber with nice dense fine head. Surprisingly little aroma, but pleasant: slightly hoppy. Lovely palate, very smooth and creamy from very fine carbonation. The taste starts with hops overlaying some pleasant, but not oversweet, caramel maltiness. Very nice bitter finish - good prominent hop bitterness, without searing the taste-buds.
A good IPA with hops all the way, but not overwhelmed by them.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Oakes (10941) - Savusavu, FIJI ISLANDS - MAY 10, 2013
Made w/ wai-iti hops, which presumably means "little water" Cloudy amber w thin amber. Fruit nose w light ginger, marmalade, and lots of rich, earthy caramel malt. Rich bitterness collides with earthy crystal malt... The hops lose their aromatic subtlety, but the bitterness lingers well into the finish.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 DylansDad (165) - NEW ZEALAND - APR 29, 2013
Aroma is all sweet , yep biscuity, malt. Light bodied. First mouthful tastes very malt-driven, but after half a glass a light bitterness starts balancing things out a bit, at the expense of thinning out the mouthfeel just a tad too much for this already light ale. By the last 1/3 of the pint it has settled into its stride and is a good meat’n’potatos beer.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Jessop (178) - AUSTRALIA - MAR 11, 2013
Pours lovely red with hoppy spicy notes, rich malt texture and mouthfeel, the hops just don’t quite keep up with this one, hints of diacetyl in the finish but overall a sessionable beer
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Pdubyah (110) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - DEC 20, 2012
This is one of those beers that you’d be a bit disappointed to miss out on the last bottle of, but possibly not one that would be your first choice. So a C- level beer that "could try harder" it does what it says on the label, there isn’t a pretence in the description that you agree with because you don’t get it, but because it is what i is.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 imaragingbull (495) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - DEC 8, 2012
Bomber. Pours muddy brown amber with average-small off-white head and tight lace. Aromas of sweet malts, light grassy tropical citrus hop notes, fig, caramel, pitted fruit and a touch of biscuit and toast. Medium body, medium-high carbonation. The sweetness is well balanced with a generous bitterness, not so much flavour but the finish is lingering light bitterness/flavour and a touch salty and minerally. Nice malty character and unique NZ hop notes.
3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20 BarossaLuke (498) - AUSTRALIA - NOV 2, 2012
Tad disappointed with this. I was expecting a more hop driven beer but this was much more malt driven in flavour and aroma. Still a nice beer but not was I expected.
