Opaque black hue with a relatively quickly dissipating beige head. Pleasant but minor aroma with notes of dark roast and chocolate, vanilla and caramel. Mid bodied and rather creamy. Initial taste is dark roast and cocoa which immediately progresses into a delicious amalgamation of vanilla, honey and caramel as well as the aforementioned chocolate and roast, concluding with a slightly dry finish. Quite nice.

Draft. Pours deep brown with an off white head. Burnt malts, mild roast, some nutty malty sweetness, and light earthy bitterness. Pretty good.

Fairly uninspired. Some roast and light coffee, but not a huge palate on this. Pours black with ok head and lacing. Light bitter finish with some cloying tangy aftertaste. Bottle from Manitoba Liquor Mart.

330ml bottle pours almost black in color with a finger and a half of light tan head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is dark chocolate and roasted grains with some coffee notes. Taste is a chocolate malty sweetness with a roasted grain and coffee bitterness. Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation. A nicely crafted brew that doesnít specify the style, but I would agree that it is porterlike. Nicely balanced and flavorful.

Pours a dark brown bordering on black. Thin for a porter. Aromas of earth and dust, chocolate, caramel, and chocolate. Similar flavours. Everything is a bit faint. Needs to be amped up a bit.

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a thin beige head. Quite roasty and bitter for the light ABV, with some dark fruit and a hint of smoke. More flavour than expected for the 4.5%; still a little thin for a porter, but quite tasty.

Dark brown body, brown creamy head. Aroma of cocoa, dried fruit, quite nice. Taste is sweet, malty, chocolate, a bit grassy as well. Iíd say this was somewhere between a nice schwarzbier and a porter. Not as rich and thick as a nice porter, but has the flavour and certainly more than a typical schwarzbier. Not bad.

Pours a brownish black color. Aroma and taste are roasted malts and a mildly bitter finish.

Pyobon (1222) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - AUG 5, 2014
(Bottle) Very dark, essentially black, with small short-lived tan head. Subtle, fresh, grainy aroma. Light body with good soft plentiful carbonation. Taste is balanced mix of burnt, flinty and sour notes with little malt, and some bitterness in finish. One of my least favorite beer styles, however this is very drinkable.

Clear dark beer, small head which recede very quickly, standard carbonation with a good amount of good roasted malt aromas like coffee and chocolate. The flavor is quite simple, with some notes of dark chocolate and some bitterness at the end, but the mouthfeel is rather watery.
