Its boring, but I like it as a beer, it has a nice sharp and peppy bitterness and a good bready malt base. They should ditch the green bottles though, there is a faint bit of skunk.

Pours a golden color with a sudsy head that fades to some lacing. Aroma of sweet malt with just a bit of citrus in the background. Taste of sweet malt, a bit of honey and fresh grain. Mild bitterness and a clean finish. Fairly light body and quite smooth. Decent dreinker that goes down easy. Good for a couple.

Bottle. Clear golden body with a soapy white head. Aroma is sweet grainy malts, hints of honey and light floral hops. Nice malty grainy flavours with a satisfactory dry hop finish and bitterness. Medium bodied with just right carbonation. A well made clean tasting premium lager.

I reckon the style percentage over rates this beer somewhat. Drinks more like a pale lager (complete with stale notes) and sweet hints to finish. CUB-like ’bitter’ finish. I really needed more from this. Bad bottle perhaps?

ALLOVATE (2098) - Butler, AUSTRALIA - MAR 1, 2012
Pour is a little unenthusiastic; flaccid, sudsy and depleting white head atop a medium amber body with very fine carbonation eddying upwards. Grainy, cereal-like nose with pronounced perfumy floral notes, mild vinegar, almond meal, marzipan and grassy herbs - unexpected. Cleaner more straightforward palate of sweet toasted and biscuity grain, bitter herbal hops and light nutty notes in the swallow. Finishes dry, crisp, with good malt and hop linger. Firm body, frothy and soft in mouthfeel, a late addition of fruit seems to come out as it warms adding a short tanginess to it. A little sweet for me, best drunk extra cold, but a decent drop over all. (33cL, BB 29/03/12, Dan Murphy’s Currambine)

Pours gold/amber with a small fading head. Nose shows honey and floral hops. Simple but nice. Flavours include the same spicy and floral hops along with some honey. Finishes with a mild, plain bitterness. Could use a little more carbonation.

Clear golden body with lasting white head. Grainy aroma and also in the taste, couldn’t get past that to appreciate this beer.

From a 330ml bottle on 13/9/2011. Pours a light golden with a biggish head. Has only a slight aroma of grain and citrus. The taste is frankly a bit weird, with a sharp, slightly sour bitterness quickly overwhelming the slightly sweet start. Doesn’t work for me.

Bottle. Gold with a white head. Aroma of grain, honey, grass, some spices. Quite full bodied for 4.5%. Sweet and grainy with some honey, decent grassy bitterness. After the amber and the dark a bit disappointing.
