On tap @ GABF. Dark, hazy, amber pour with an off-white head. Tart berry, some grass, and oak. A light lactic note, light funk, and earthy. Maybe a hint of vinegar. Tart flavor of red wine vinegar, berry, and lemons. Grass, oak, and a touch of earthy funk. Mild fruity sweetness.

An easy going wild focused on deeper earthy characteristics

Dark walnut body with a fading delicate frothy off white head
-
Earthy funk with soft berry and lactic characteristics, nicely sour without being puckering, light body, interesting and enjoyable without being complicated, well done
-
2013 batch on tap at McCoy’s around 40°

Draft, from several samples at the KS Craft Brewers Expo 2013. Tart, fruity aroma, farmy and plenty of funk and wood detected, some light sweetness, blackberry, floral and contributions from the yeast (dough, cobweb, must). Cloudy dark amber in color with a very faint dark purplish cast, and a fine, lasting, off-white head. Flavor profile is tart, acidic, fruity, lightly sweet, with more wood character and musty, doughy, funked-out yeast, straw, and suggestions of stone fruit on the finish. Very dry and active on the palate, with a moderately high level of acidity, body is light-medium. Really interesting and tasty. This was all sorts of enjoyable.

Finally got to try this, been trying to find the only locally and continually produced sour beer. Six ounce pour at the brewpub. Pour is pretty dark, murky, brown and black with deep purple hues. Not pretty, a muddy looking beer with a dark purple tint. Aroma is tart right off the bat, fruit-vinegar but restrained after that. A berry fruitiness comes out, natural. Flavor follows suit with a nice berry and Oud Bruin melding. Palate is medium bodied, not much carbonation. Overall, well crafted and tasty, will try to get back to the brewpub to have some more.

Extremely sour. Overly tart. Dark brown. No head. No BlackBerry. I don’t like this.

Bottle shared by the BA guys. Always a good time. Pours a murky brownish pour, a touch of glow a the edges with some frothy offwhite head atop. Dies to a ring, laces small. Aromas are mellow, gentle blackberry and bready malts, faint sweetness, more lacto elements, touches of yogurt, lemon, faint wild funkiness. A feel for an Oud Bruin, mild. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied, offering a sufficient tartness, sour blackberries, touches of lacto, and yogurt, lemons, mellow acidity grow as it warms. Middle shows just a faint touch of sweetness and lingering sour blackberries. Finish is refreshing tart and dry, offering some blackberry skin tannins, druy sourness, a faint sweetness beneath. Enjoyable sour here, fairly fresh and lively, but not complex. A tasty yet simple sour.

growler... didn’t have much expectations so I wasn’t let down too much, very malty sour, a bit heavy to me, a decent amount of dark fruits come through but not really sour... meh
