COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the summer of 1858, Main Street in Kansas City was overrun by hogs. The city passed a "Hog Law" authorizing the city’s marshall to catch any of the porkers found roaming in the streets and throw them in a "Hog Pound". Hundreds of swine were apprehended and there owners had to pay fines for their release. A traditional English style Brown Ale, Hog Pound is a slightly sweet and mildly hopped with a smooth , pleasent flavor reminiscent of the Great Brown Ales from England.

Pours a hazy brownish amber with a smaller creamy off white head. Aroma of toasted malt, nuts and citrusy hops. Flavor of toasted malt, caramel, nuts and hints of pine.

February 27, 2013 - on tap at Foundry. Clear brown pour with limited head and spotty lacing. Aroma and taste were malty and mild hops. Maybe some nutty aroma and flavor as it warmed.

It poured a medium brown color with a tiny off-white head. The aroma was of light toffee with some chocolate and maple. The taste was toffee with a hint of iced tea and had a light body with some woody character. Not my favorite.

Draft at the source. Clear brown color, small white head. Aroma of nuts and subtle toast. Nuts are more prominent in the taste, with a bit of caramel.

Pitcher poured into shaker at brewpub. Aroma: bread, chocolate, caramel, malt Appearance: clear pour and 1 finger of off-white head that dissipated quickly. light brown color. Taste: light sweet and very light bitter Palate: light body and thin texture. average carbonation. finish was slightly sweet and very short. Chocolate and nuttiness were very present. Overall: Pretty good beer from McCoys. Would have liked it to be a bit more hoppy but very solid beer. Would order again at the pub.

Generic brown ale. Almost nothing to distinguish itself. It has some good flavors but too watery too recommend.

On tap. A foamy, off-white head and dark brown body. The flavor is light, with a light palate and nutty and slightly malty flavor. A very drinkable brown ale, but a little on the light side for me.
