COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Available filtered and pasteurised in keg, can & bottle.
Production moved to Bedford in late 2011 following the acquisition of the McEwan’s and Younger’s brands by Wells & Youngs from Heineken.
Amber colour with a notably thick head. A sweet, spicy aroma with a hoppy finish.

A friend bought some of this when he knew I was coming over for his daughter’s second birthday party--he knew I liked ’better’ beer. Although poured out of a can into a plastic cub--it’s been a long time since I’ve done that!--this indeed was rather enjoyable. Massive thick head, like a dense root beer float, and a relatively strong jolt of flavor. Not very complex, but no annoying bitterness and none of the metallic taste I was expecting.

(Draught) Nice middling-dark amber color. Not much head at all. Not much aroma, either. Flavor on the malty side, and somewhat weak, but basically pleasant (or perhaps ’harmless’ is the word I’m looking for). Light to moderate carbonation. Overall: inoffensive but undistinguished.

Im not sure what happened here. I had a can like the one pictured. No aroma, light malt flavor overpowered by a metallic taste. Just bad, not much of a step up from something like a JW Dundee Honey Brown. Disappointing.

I actually prefer this beer when it’s ice cold. I find it nicer from a can than a bottle. It’s sold in some bars here but not that nice on draught. An almost fruity beer.

I really like this beer, it has good flavour and balance. This beer has real drinkability and is easy to drink them rather to quick. A regular in my fridge. A nice maltiness, slight fruit and a creamy bitter finish.

McEwans is one of my Favourites, but don’t serve it too cold as it can become bitter in flavour.

The import to Norway was not a success. The bottled version turned out to be sour and rather unpleasant.
