Looks good - dark, in fact opaque with a good creamy head. Quite a sweet malty nose. The taste is richer and sweeter than expected. The palaet is medium-bodied and reasonably balanced. Overall, this is very good for a mass-produced canned beer.

This beer has a amber body - hue with a smoky initial flavor and a light body.

Haven’t tasted this for YEARS! Still a run of the mill malty/grainy beer, I suppose I’ve had worse, but that’s not much of a recommendation, is it? Probably be years before I taste this again.

Chestnut colour with big cream head. Mild strange chemical aroma. Light roasted malt tastewhich is pretty bad. Flat and watery. Perhaps this is Scottish sewer water.

Can. Pours a clear amber body and a full white head with good retention. Aroma is full of rich fruits, some alcohol, hoppy, caramel notes, spicy, pineapple, some sulphurous notes, boiled sweets. Sweet, followed by some bitterness towards the finish. Dry finish. Warming. Definitely in the Scottish style. Actually pretty nice, I was pleasantly surprised at this. Far better than its rival, canned Bass.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 kiwianer (830) - Mönchengladbach, GERMANY - MAY 28, 2012
Farblich ist es ein dunkles Exportbier mit typisch englischer Schaumkrone. Aroma schön herb-hopfig. Im Nachgeschmack ein ganz klein bisschen sauer. Fazit: Gutes mittelmaß.

Talk about bad beers. Smell is of can, taste is of rotten meat and the overall worth of this beer is slightly higher than the aluminium it sits in.
Maybe not.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 beaconstreet (811) - Washington DC, USA - AUG 25, 2004
UPDATED: SEP 14, 2004 Not as bad as some people say. Heavy and metallic, but a solid drink. Probably best with a light dinner. Robin in England reports: "Oooh, that's what the tramps drink, Pe-tah!"
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 yalnikim (800) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - FEB 16, 2006
Tasted 14/02/2006. 500ml can from New World, Island Bay.
Red-gold, lowly carbonated, creamy off-white head that lingers and laces. Looks great but with the eyes closed there is nothing much going for this beer, at all. Mostly caramel on the nose, sugary-sweet, with a hint of toasty malt and estery fruitcake. Short, lightweight and watery in the mouth with suggestions of brown sugar, caramel and a slight smokey whisky character. Over-attenuated (probably due to the high ratio of simple fermentables). Metallic residue. I probably would have thought this was quite good 5 years ago... it certainly beats Tui, but only just.
