Clear copper coloured, small head. Caramel malty aroma, bitter flavour. Nothing special about this one.

Farblich ist es ein dunkles Exportbier mit typisch englischer Schaumkrone. Aroma schön herb-hopfig. Im Nachgeschmack ein ganz klein bisschen sauer. Fazit: Gutes mittelmaß.

2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 flying_pig (344) - SCOTLAND - MAR 1, 2012
Can (500ml)
A very mild smelling one. Very clean & I initially struggled to detect much in the way of an aroma although once it was left to open up slightly there was a faint metallic smell, some grain and a tiny amount of caramel with some sweetness.
Caramel red copper a foamy white head that has outstanding retention & remains for upwards of five minutes, is perfectly straight and is about two-fingers width tall.
Faint caramel with the metallic taste that I detected in the smell. There is a mildy bitter finish but to be honest there isn’t that much else to mention.
Fairly smooth beer on the palate with a medium body and a moderately bitter finish.
Not quite as bad as I had been expecting, but by no means a good beer either. This one should have disappeared along with the eighties in my opinion. Very few redeeming qualities and not one I would have again.

Clear amber golden colour with small off-white head.
Weak aroma and sweetish caramel malty flavour. Watery.
Not my favourite.

1.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20 Palme (1437) - Bergen, NORWAY - NOV 9, 2011
0.5l can from Centra, Colosseum shared with InBreak and ClubGonzo. Pours a clear nuttybrown body with a nice big lacing bubbly just off-white head. Aroma is strong caramel, some earth and tones of butter. Not to bad. It has a thin and watery mouthfeel with a average to soft carbonation level. Flavors are almost a bit off. Sour tones mixed with some metallic and papery caramel. This was not too good.
1.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20 ClubGonzo (1987) - Bergen, NORWAY - NOV 6, 2011
Can, from Centra Colosseum, Oslo. Dark amber body, medium off-white creamy head. Nose is sour hibiscus-like notes, pale malts and hints of caramel and ale yeast. A bit strange. Taste takes it all down: INTENSE canned food metallic tones; as if drinking straight from an opened can of vegetables or something. Gross! :-( Hints of caramel and yeast in the back, which does nothing to reduce the canned metallic horror of this beer. Maybe I got a bad batch or something, but this was really horrible.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 dynamiteninja (844) - York, North Yorkshire, ENGLAND - NOV 4, 2011
Can. Pours a clear amber body and a full white head with good retention. Aroma is full of rich fruits, some alcohol, hoppy, caramel notes, spicy, pineapple, some sulphurous notes, boiled sweets. Sweet, followed by some bitterness towards the finish. Dry finish. Warming. Definitely in the Scottish style. Actually pretty nice, I was pleasantly surprised at this. Far better than its rival, canned Bass.
