2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Heat99 (56) - Austin, Texas, USA - NOV 25, 2001If this is an IPA, then I’m Frank Sinatra. Tastes more like an almost flat pale ale. So far, McEwan’s has disappointed me at every turn. No head, No hops, No carbonation. Drink at your own risk.
2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Metalchopz (1753) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - APR 15, 2012
Originally rated June 2004. 500ml can. Redish-brown with a nice lasting bubbly head. Very little aroma, very light carbonation. Bitter caramel taste with a smooth metallic finish. Like other mentioned, hard to take it as an IPA (more like an "English Brown Ale").
2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 gramity (1057) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 1, 2011
Pours a surprisingly brownish color with a little bit of a head that quickly goes away. Aroma is weak and hard to pin down... Taste is a bit watery. Floral and nut flavors come through (weakly) followed by a bit of acid and a little hoppy bitterness. It feels like an IPA light or something.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Rasmus40 (7004) - Beder, Aarhus, DENMARK - FEB 28, 2011
Clear amber with a white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and fruity. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter. A bit light bodied. More sweet than bitter. 241004
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Taverner (1044) - San Ramon, California, USA - JAN 27, 2011
UPDATED: JAN 29, 2011 Absolutely the WORST IPA I have ever had. True, I was taking a chance with an IPA from Scotland. Chances are it was brewed when I was in grad school. Nose - that nauseating smell you got as a kid, going through your parents’ or grandparents’ liquor cabinet. Finish, cloyingly sweet. No bitterness, no flavor other than stale bay rum.
Let me add - this dirtwater was drainpour. I would rather drink Bud, Coors or MGD than this shit.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 angrybeerman (259) - Dublin, IRELAND - JUN 10, 2010
A fairly average ale. Can’t really remember it but I did not think it was great.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 jtclockwork (5117) - , New Jersey, USA - MAY 11, 2010
I thought this beer was a little flat and tasteless. Pour is amber. Nose and taste is just not really there. Some citrus and spruce. Light caramels. Rated 11/22/02
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Nisse666 (3164) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - OCT 29, 2009
1986-04-12, Can, one of the first ones i tasted the first time I was over to Scotland. Nice then not so nice noe (flavor).
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 GG (1980) - NorCal, California, USA - AUG 6, 2009
Either a bitter or an IPA, it’s just really bad. The body is a dark amber/brown color, small off-white scant head. Aroma is earthy and wet paper. Flavor is caramel, butterscotch, wet paper, and dirty penny. Ugh.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Bragesnak (4646) - Aarhus, DENMARK - JUL 7, 2009
Bottled.
Amber with white head. Aroma of malt. Flavor is caramel, butter and not much hops
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 8/20 ContemplateBeer (1143) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - MAR 7, 2009
Aroma was kinda nutty with light hops. Appearance included a small head, and this beer was very similar to Newcastle in appearance. Flavor was kinda buttery and sweet with a negligible amount of hops. Palate was pretty much boring, as was this beer overall. Doesn’t deserve to be called an IPA.
