Bottle. Poured deep, dark chocolate in color, with a two finger beige head. Aroma was malty caramel coffee. Taste of roasted malt, sweet and bready, slightly bitter finish. Mouthfeel was creamy. I liked this brew a lot. One to return to on a cold winter’s evening after dinner.

(Bottle). Sweet malty aroma. Dark brown with off-white head. Flavor is sweet and caramelly, then fades to a somewhat watery sweet finish.

Poured a very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma was sweet and malty, but not too strong. Taste was great. Tons of scotch flavor. Much sweeter than other scotch ales, but it was pretty good.

Bottle at The Pub. Brown pour, small tan head. Aroma is sweet and malty. Flavor follows suit. Just a tad too sweet and too malty. Not enough balance. Smooth mouthfeel, but just not quite right.

Flashed on this one while thinking about an upcoming beer tasting. Why is it I don’t like scotch ale? This McEwans! It tasted like coca cola. Sweet. Syrupy. Not good.

When you go to drink this brown, hazy, thin headed, burnt flavored mostly sour ale, reach for a side of salt & vinegar chips to help you swill this down.

Bottle from Kegs & Barrels in McKinney, TX. Pours a deep brown with orange/red hue’s, tan head. Aroma of dark roast and vague soy sauce? Flavor is nice, dark roast, once again, vague soy sauce notes, semi sweet, a little chocolate, nice small bitter. Mouthfeel is medium body with high carbonation. Over all, pretty good!

bottle at capital grill. Pour was dark with significant head (too dark in room to get accurate color), aroma of coffee, roasted malts. Flavor to match. Good beer.
