3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 JamesD (211) - Centreville, Virginia, USA - SEP 30, 2007
A very rich and dark beer. The aroma and flavor are dominated by caramel and toffee with no detectable bitterness.. This beer is very sweet, it would go very well with a dessert or a sweet barbeque dish or pork chops with a fruit sauce.

very nice--pours a very deep brown/red, with the thinnest tan head. rich sugars and notes of alcohol at the front end; finishes with just a bit of bitter. Nice for sipping at the end of the day...

dark mahogany color with very small tan head. faint aroma of burnt toffee with a sour citrus note to it. medium bodied. chocolate malt taste well supported by dusted earth, resin, and alcohol. it has a spicy bitter finish. overall good and easy drinking

Pours a clear, very dark brown with virtually no head. Nose is like musty strawberries with a syrupy sugar sauce poured all over them. Flavor is sweet with an earthy edge. Almost like port with peat or something off the ground overlapping it. You also get a distinct tangy edge on the top of your mouth. Mouthfeel is extremely thick, bordering on syrupy with a high airy edge to it. Not the most drinkable of brews due to the thick syrup edge, but this is one 6 pack I will let sit in the fridge for a while and go back to now and again for a nice, relaxing drink.
I know that my personal preference for very flavorful and sweet beers will effect my ratings, but I really dig this one.

Pours a nice deep brown with ruby reddish hues. The head was fairly thin, creamy, light brown. Pretty carbonated. The nose isn’t as complex as the flavor. Sweet, mild aroma, caramel. Slight smoke peat, earthy, caramel, sweet, slight chocolate, rich flavor. Nice. Warm in the stomach and going down.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 sneezey (111) - Hackettstown, New Jersey, USA - SEP 8, 2007
Very very enjoyable - dark brown pour and a big malty aroma. Thick and flavorful, nutty slightly smoky taste with the alcohol no where in sight. A bit on the sweet side, maybe a bit too much as its only fault. Unfortunately one of the most expensive to buy locally.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 dchmela (2219) - Orlando, Florida, USA - SEP 7, 2007
Pours out blackest red with an off white head. Aroma is malty with a hint of chocolate. Taste is thick and chocolaty with a touch of caramel. Deceptively strong. A wonderfully heavy beer that is almost a desert or after dinner drink.
