Aroma: Very sweet - candy and caramel Appearance: Pours thick and oily low head dark nut brown with red highlights Flavour: Full rich thick malt flavour caramel, candied fruit and brandy. Alcohol flavour and burn keep counter the syrupy sweetness. Mouthfeel: Full bodied, thick and chewy. Overall: Very rich sweet and alcoholic flavoured. Tastes like sweetened brandy. Alcohol balances the malt character but just too sweet to drink much of - a little dab will do you.

THis was passable after having REAL McEwans while in Scotland. IT was drinkable, but much maltier and darker than it’s non-export equivalent, McEwans 80. Slightly sweet, but roasty and malty overwhelms. A little foamy head, dissipates somewhat slowly. (Bottle Pour 12/7/2006)

Dark red-brown in color with sparse white head. Smells slightly sweet, slightly peaty, a tad whiff of a plasticy smell. Palate is off - a bit overcarbonated. Not as complex as some other Scotches, but I think this was the first one I had. Sweet and slightly peaty with a slight warm finish.

This is my first scotch ale and since this is considered to be the best I guess i don’t care for the syle. Pours a dark brown and smells good, but Gagggggg SWEET! Drinking this beer is like eating an entire tube of tooth paste; sweet and ichy. I couldn’t finish it. The worst thing is the price. WARNING THIS IS EXTREAMLY SWEET!!!!!!!

Murky brown, small tan head that dissolved into nothing very quickly. Smells of a rich malt profile. High alcohol dominated the flavor with a syrupy consistancy. I didn’t like this beer.

This beer is f*ckin whack as a shack!!! pours a black match brown. no head, but that ring was there. crazy sherry harsh tar liquor smell. abv is present. is a rather complex brew that can go either way...I love it..i hate it ...u can catch this beer anywhere in between! IS also a great cigar beer cuz the wicked tart-ness of the beer goes GreaT with the delicous smoke of a fine cubano! ....this beer was a let down and a half! ..evil scotch ale....

I tried this once at a friends party, it was somewhat decent alcohol, and unfortunately I’ve not been able to find it since, well, not in the local shops around here.
