Bottle. Slight sweet smell escapes, mixed with the air of high alcohol. Dark body, medium. Taste is very malty/mollasses texture that tastes sweet and goes down smooth. A very satisfying ale. Cheers!

Pours deep rich amber in color with a short tan head. Nice malty aroma with a hint of alcohol. Taste: sweet caramel/molasses malts with a hint of hop bitterness. An excellent Scotch Ale.

(Rating #468)

Deep mahogany pour with a very small head. Aroma is slightly stale, licorice, rice, sweet malt and caramel. Biscuity, stale, mineraly in the mouth, with noticable alcohol. I had this beer from 40F all the way to room temperature and it never really found a sweet-spot.

Completely opaque black/brown color with an antique-white head. Nice lacing, but head and lacing quickly dispersed. Aroma of malt and a hint of vinegar. Smooth, sweet flavor. No biting crispness or alcohol. Only a hint of warming alcohol burn in the aftertaste followed by a sweet tartness.

Pours a cloudy dark brown with a fast evaporating head. Has a molasses type taste. I thought scotch ales would be a little more smoky tasting but not this one. Also has a slight metallic tinge. Still very good

Very dark brown, insignificant head. Nose is sweet, roasty, peaty, with a bit of smoke. Same flavors with more smoke and more peat. Medium/full, balanced body. Excellent considering the quantity they produce.
