Color is muddy brown with a full tan froth that lingers. Pours a full, soft nectar with little residual effers. Aroma is of cooked malt. Flavors of sweet creamy biscuits and buttered toast. Has a warming sensation with a long finish. It’s like eating buttered pancakes with maple syrup. Definately drink it cold.

Pours a dark cherry oak color with a short tan head. Hints of butterscotch/molasses with a quick bitter finish.

Deep clear chestnut brown, brief tan head. Peaty, earthy aromas with sweet caramel underlying it all. Faintly smoky character surrounds sweet caramel, with an earthy minerally element too. A little sweeter than something I could drink all night, but still a good beer with character.

Pours a dark brown that you can easily see through once held to light. Small off-white head. Apples, plum, and caramel in the aroma and flavor. Syrupy mouthfeel. Pretty solid.

Dark brown pour with a pervasive off-white head. Wanted to like this one..but the off color nearly (but not quite) foul smell knocked this one back a notch. Remarkably, the flavor was altogether different....pretty tasty...big sweet malt, mild smokiness as it warmed....big surprise. At $11 per sixer, this one rates as a big bust, but not nearly as bad as I wanted to rate it.

UPDATED: JUN 29, 2006 This is the first time I have had this beer. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a medium to large brown head. The aroma is sweet and has light malts and fruity hops with a hint of vinegar underneath. The flavor is rich with tangy and sour malts and ripe fruit - cherry and plum mostly. There is an odd undertaste that I can not quite identify but is rather pleasant. A bit of alcohol burn comes through on the finish. A nice beer I will have to try again.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a very deep reddish brown with a moderate mocha head that lasted through the entire glass. Light, pleasant aroma of malt and caramel. Flavor is definitely malty with caramel and prunes also present. Nice finish. I really enjoyed this one.

(12oz Bottles. 03/2006). Aromas of sweet, rotting fruits and molasses. Deep, dark amber. Flavor of molasses and rotten apricots. Full-bodied and almost cloying on the palate. Big, sweet finish that, yes, indeed, as described commercially, lingers. Syrupy. Like drinking black-strap.
