This is a good looking beer with a very strong alchoholic taste. The hops are not noticable, but it has a malty snosh, heh.

The nose started with a fleeting scent of ripened dark fruit, then malt & toast, and a mellow combo of caramel, toffee, and brown sugar sweetness. The taste added a moderate, somewhat lingering, earthy hop bitterness that was nicely tempered by a malt creaminess that also contributed some fullness to the medium+ body

Now she all boils down to personal opinion lads. Greasy? Yes, this beer is oily as they come. Buttery texture like a liquid croissant. I don’t mind a bit o’ the ol’ grease now and then, especially when it’s Scottish grease, which I am told is quite magic. Dark brown with ruby tints, smell of toffee, hay, brown bread and tart cherries. Tastes like a boozey fruitcake that sat on a horse blanket in the hay. Oily and low carbonation.

Pours dark brown. Sugary sweet. Good kick of alcohol there too. Interesting flavours, but it’s too cloying for my taste.

Poured a dark brown with a little off white head. Aroma was of toffee, caramel, honey, and biscuit. Tasted of butterscotch, biscuit, smoke, and booze. Had a slick medium body with a low carbonation and a bitter buttery mouth feel that wasn’t very pleasant. The butter feel was way too strong in this beer.

12oz bottle shared pours a medium to dark brown. Sweet malt aroma blended with some chocolate and hints of caramel. The flavor is quite smooth. Lots of sweet malts and hints of chocolate and toffee. Overall very good scotch ale.

This stuff is great. Cola colored beer with an off-white head. Aromas of toffee, caramel, and almonds. Tastes of toasted grains, sweet caramel/butterscotch, almonds, and some chocolate. Earthy flavors present too. Sweet, lactic finish. Boozy, oily mouth feel. Delicious.

Mmm, this is a good scotch! Dark brown pour w/ a thin head that leaves a good ring of lacing. The aroma has some good caramel notes & a hint of booziness. The taste is robust w/ semisweet caramel malt & alcohol. It’s a delight on the palate & quite smooth at 8%. Vey nice!

Bottle from the Beer Store. Dark reddish brown pour with a small tan head that fades quickly. Nose is dark fruits, caramel with some vanilla and peat. Quite sweet throughout with raisin, cherry and molasses with only a very light bitterness in the background. Medium full creamy body and a long sweet finish. Nice and sweet but not cloying.

Best by 23SEP14 Pours dark brown with a central dome and ring connected with thin sheet of light tan foam. Smells of fruit, caramel, artificial grape, some metal, some soil and raisin. Flavor is roasty with sweet, caramel, some tomato and metal. Medium on full bodied with light, but sharp carb and a dry finish. Nice beer, I actually think this would do great with some extra oxidation.

12 ounce bottle. Dark reddish brown color topped by a small beige head. Toasted malt aroma with notes of toffee and cocoa. Sweet caramel malt flavor has a nutty character with hints of vanilla and an underlying smokiness. Finishes sweet with a cocoa maltiness. As I remember, this is a slighter version of the McEwan’s Scotch Ale available some years ago.
