Enjoyable. Nice dark malty brew with just enough kick to keep me coming back. Careful it bites

Old rating. Bottle from Old Town. Nice aromas of cacao, coffee and butterscotch with a slightly boozy aroma present. Tastes more of the same with the malts standing strong. Alcohol does show a bit as it warms up. Bits of vanilla and oak come out as well. Nice smooth finish.

Nice Scotch ale, but the alcohol taste is a bit too sharp in my book; it gets a bit overbearing compared to the other flavors. Still good thought.

bottle @ Party Source / Bellevue KY --- Clear dark brown, beige head cover, mottled wall of lace. Aroma of toasted malt and chocolate. Taste is toasted malt with a light touch of chocolate that grows significantly on its way through the palate, turning a little bitter in the finish. A clean, solid, full-bodied, tasty brew. Recommended.

Poured from 330ml bottle. Opaque, near black with a very thin khaki head and good lacing. Aroma of caramel, chocolate, molasses, toffee and toast. Taste of chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, toffee, toast and dark fruit. Medium body and high/medium carbonization. Quite good. Much better than I remember. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tasted from bottle. Pours a very dark brown with off white head that quickly fades. Not a strong aroma but mostly caramel, toffee and dark fruits. Taste is similar to aroma. Faint coffee taste along with the caramel, toffee and dark fruits. I think it's a little more thin than I would like but still pretty good. Above average for style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a clear deep mohagany topped by two fingers of tanned head showing good retention. Lacing is coarse and appealing, carbonation is fine and subtle. The nose is caramel, toasted walnuts, good bread and alcohol. The taste is spot on of the style with roasted notes, nutty and bready malts paired with some balanced earthy hops. The alcohol comes through nicely, offering a warm and liquorish finish. Excellent scotch ale, by far the best I had so far in my 6 years of beer tasting. Enjoy it on its own or with grilled meats and stews.

Pours very dark, almost black but shows its ruby color when held up to light and has a creamy tan head. Aromas of bread, molasses, caramel, and plum. Its very full bodied with a bit of an oily mouthfeel. Taste is very malt forward, as is expected in a Scotch. Light booze flavor but it hides its strength fairly well. Good Scotch Ale, one of my favorite styles.

"classic to the style. sometimes, this one can have a little too strong of a metallic/copper/astringent taste, but only sometimes. it’s a solid, smooth, smokey/malty effort. recommended."
