SoCaliente (3), Thousand Oaks, California, USA does not count Sep 6, 2008 When you go to drink this brown, hazy, thin headed, burnt flavored mostly sour ale, reach for a side of salt & vinegar chips to help you swill this down.
Swalden_28 (570), McKinney, Texas, USA Sep 5, 2008 Bottle from Kegs & Barrels in McKinney, TX.
Pours a deep brown with orange/red hue’s, tan head. Aroma of dark roast and vague soy sauce? Flavor is nice, dark roast, once again, vague soy sauce notes, semi sweet, a little chocolate, nice small bitter. Mouthfeel is medium body with high carbonation. Over all, pretty good! Bhops (200), Dallas, Texas, USA Sep 4, 2008 bottle at capital grill. Pour was dark with significant head (too dark in room to get accurate color), aroma of coffee, roasted malts. Flavor to match. Good beer. probstk (674), Nepean, Ontario, Canada Sep 2, 2008 355 ml bottle from LCBO, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. AU17/08.
App.: Very deep ruby with a decent off-white froth.
Aroma: Deep caramel and toffee, light raisins, touches of wood, cherry and light berry, a bit of cardboard.
Palate: Medium+ body, very soft carbonation.
Flav.: Lots of cardboard, less caramel and raisins, light medium-roasted coffee, a touch nutty; somewhat sweet with a little bitterness, a touch of molasses and alcohol in the finish.
A bit old but not awful.
