I had seen this one around but just never thought to try it. I was really impressed. It has a great dark brown color and it’s full of flavor. A touch on the sweet side which gives it almost a Belgian character. The alcohol is 8% but it’s not at all overpowering. Will have to remember this one when winter gets here. It’s definately one to take it in slowly and enjoy every sip.

I had never tasted this brew from McEwans..I am from Scotland and i used to drink McEwans Export at home ( same as me dadd)..a Scottish macro. Well it comes in a very handsome 12 oz bottle . the appearance is good nice dark mahogany brown coour with half finger head which persists. I loved the extraordinary fruitiness of this beer great refreshing scent if that is possible. Wonderful sweet taste for a brew so strong..i taste blackcurrants and even raspberry in this with a deep coffee after taste.Fels good on the tongue smooth. Very drinkable for a strong ale..better watch this one if you have a few at hand. All in all a great beer for sitting by the fire with the wife..nice.

This beer has such a great appearance. Color is a brownish-amber. The aroma is kind of like burt toffee, with a hint of vanilla. This beer is really smooth in the palate with a slight oily texture. When this beer is cold the flavors are masked, so let the beer get alittle warm and behold the true Scottish Ale.

Incredible beer, smooth, very sweet. Chocolate and caramel, and very malty. No hint of the 8% alcohol

Bottle pour into a "globe" glass (don’t know if they’re all called that). About quarter inch, very bright tan, dense foam. Highly malted alochol aroma. Thick burgundy scotch ale. Yum.

This is a really nice, smooth, and easy-to-drink wee heavy. It’s very dark red brown almost black, with a medium tan head that is very long-lasting and never entirely vanishes. It leaves some icicle-like lacing in even rings. The aroma is sweet brown bread, butter, caramel, caramleized pruines, a little wheat bread, and a hnin of wine. The taste is nice - rich, full-bodied, yet mellow and smooth. It has qualities of qwine, fruit, especially cheries, toast, a hint of chocolate, spices. It’s zesty and smooth, the alcohol adds a nice, full warmth without being too strong or noticeable, leaving it very easy to drink.

This beer is amazing. Beautiful dark color. Gentle carbonation .Strong flavor. Flavor is VERY sophisticated .Bitter and sweet dance. The closest thing I can think of is a delicious piece of wood with caramel drizzled on it .Good stuff.
