Cask gravity at Pig’s Ear BF 09. Black, no real head. Choccy, it’s ok, not much to it, but it’s decent burnt choc. Bit of oil More a porter than a choc to be honest.

Cask (gravity dispense) at Pigs Ear Beer Festival, 1 December 2009. Some confusion about whether this was the Porter or the Stout. Says Stout in the programme but Porter on the barrel label. As it was 4.2% (and the Porter is 4.5%), it seems it was the Stout. But, as Ian says, it did come over rather more like a Porter. Very dark colour. Slightly oily consistency. Somewhat volatile tarry aroma. Some roasty notes. Quite burnt on the palate with touches of chocolate. Decent.

Cask at the Pig’s Ear festival ’09. Alround rating: Nutty sweet roasted malt, bit of peppery dustyness, fairly flat and lacking condition, but thats down to the fact that almost all of the beers had no condition at the fest.
