Braudog (3463), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Nov 16, 2002 Light amber color with a sticky head. Balanced malt aroma with hop flourish. Almost a smoky flavor, smooth, lightly malty. Excellent. Aurelius (2466), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Apr 26, 2002 A very quaffable red ale. Nice and hoppy, without being overdone or too citrusy. Medium-dark garnet, moderate head, but the bar was dark so it was kinda hard to tell. No matter, the brewmaster knows what he’s doing -- complex enough to be contemplated, but light and balanced enough to have a few. If you’re in Destin or Pensacola, FL, then the beer afficianado will want to take out an hour or two to visit McGuire’s. Retorp (2158), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 6, 2005 Copper colored. No head at all. Kinda funky smell. I can’t place it...reminds me of the smell of trash bags left out in the sun for a summer. Decent hopt bite in the taste some mild caramel in there too. Very watery finish. eaglefan538 (2041), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Jun 11, 2006 Poured a golden color, not a lot of red, perhaps some amber. The lacing yielded throughout was fantastic. Flavor was full of caramel, somewhat sweet, with light toffee. By mid glass, this one turned a little more bitter (v. welcomed too), even picking up a rye type flavor. Hops finished with a zing, slightly bitter. Mouthfeel was heavy for the style, moderate overall. This one is up there with the Iron Hill and Smithwick’s Irish ales.
