On draft at McGuire’s. Pours a clear orange-brown with an off-white head. Nose is maple, some sweet malt, some light smoke, and some mild bitterness. Flavor follows: sweet malt, some light smoke, and a hint of earthy bitterness. I am ok with it; light to medium in body and lingering sweet malt and smoke in the finish.

Tap at the Destin brewpub. Clear golden pour with a small spotty white head. Peat and buttery sweetness in this. Maybe a bit of butterscotch.

Tap at the Pensacola establishment. Pours a moderately dark tan with minimal white head. Bourbon barrel aroma with notes of oak, butterscotch, and bready malt. Flavor has lots of sweet qualities (caramel, butterscotch) but is not very sweet itself. Smooth and well balanced. Quite a treat. A favorite of mine from McGuires.

The aroma is peaty with malt, yeast, and a touch of smoke. The appearance is mahogany with a medium sized sudsy head. The flavor is like the aroma with plenty of peat and a touch of butterscotch. The palate is average. Overall it’s an interesting beer and worth a try. It’s alright.

Tap FBGF. Pours dark brown with beige head, and nice golden lacing. Aroma got plenty of caramel malts and toffee light roastiness adds a small coffee touch to the aroma. Taste, roasted malts, lots of candi sugar, licorice, and a ton of of sweetness for an almost butterscotch/strong toffee palate. Liked this one a lot.

BeerHawk (1810) - Huntsville, Alabama, USA - NOV 19, 2006
Draft at Destin location. Copper color in the glass with an off-white, creamy head that left some lacing. The aroma found malts, wood, and a hint of alcohol. The flavor was of barrel wood and fruits. Medium to full body with a slight warming feeling. A nice after dinner sipper.

Seasonal brew from McGuire’s in Destin. Nice deep mahogany color with an extremely small white lace head. Very pleasant aroma - Very malty with some brown sugar and coffee. Full bodied flavor - Light sweetness continues with more coffee and some dark chocolate notes. Finishes with a bitter "twinge" of hops. Very tasty stuff. If only I could bring some home with me! Cheers!

On tap at McGuires in Destin. Pours not quite as dark as their porter...tinges of a deep red are evident in the dark brown body. No head is evident in the glass. Nose is very roasty, earthy, peaty....lotsa malt goiing on here. Taste follows suit with a major dark roasty coffeish malt backbone, with some nice bitter hops to balance things. Medium bodied and smooth...light carbonation. Not as bitter in the finish as I expected, but still a very good porter...and the 7.2% abv was barely noticeable. Tasty.
