On tap at McKenzie’s ( Glen mills). Pours a deep dark brown color with a two finger mocha head that quickly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Slightly smoky roasted malt aroma with a nice balance of sweet and burnt malt notes. Hints of oatmeal, toffee, coffee, toast and nuts also. Taste has strong oatmeal character with burnt toast and deeply roasted coffee bean flavor followed by dark chocolate malt, toffee and hazelnut. Full bodied with low carbonation.

Dark, subtle roastiness on the nose, almost light & quite drinkable. Solid effort but definitely more oatmeal then milk.

UPDATED: AUG 23, 2012 On tap at Devon. Mostly opaque black with moderate foamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, licorice, oatmeal. A little bit sweet, low bitterness. Medium bodied, mostly smooth. Pairs well with food, but leaves a little to be desired on its own. Updated 8/23/2012. Much better when I had it last night. Bumping the Aroma and Overall.

On tap as Oatmeal Stout. Pours a dark brown with thin light tan head. Nose is light with notes of roasted malts and tangy sweet anise. Light notes of oatmeal, roasted malts underneath, tons of boozy anise almost jager like. Light body, soft on the palate, strong carbonation, prickly finish.

On tap at McKenzie, the third stop on our RBSG bus trip. Pours a clear ruby tinged brown with a thin beige ehad. Sweet oatmeal, roast and char. Malt and roast. A touch sweet, oatmeal sweetness. Roast, toast, sweet malt and chocolate. Nicely balanced.

This poured a darker brown color with a beige head. Aroma was light bakers chocolate, medium roasted malts> flavor was a bit more roasted than expected for an oatmeal stout, very smooth and drinkable though.

Brown black pour with tan head and lace. Aroma of toasted malt and light chocolate. Toasted malt, light chocolate, very light coffee, and a good malt bitter. Medium bodied but a tad fizzy for me.

Tap at McKenzie for RBSG 2011. Pours a clear black ruby with a small, tan head. Scant lace. Looks pretty dark. Nose is light coffee and toast but fairly muted. Taste is sweet with tart acid mash and oatmeal grain. Overall fairly tart and prickly. Soapy and oily dichotomy in the finish. Intredasting.
