Reserved for the darkest of hearts, McKenzie’s Black Cherry is an inspiration to hard cider - rich amber, full body with a refreshingly sweet cherry finish.

Comes in a clear straw color with minimal effervescence and a tiny bit of suspended sediment. The aroma is weak. You get some cherry sweetness, artificial and cough-syrup-like, cloyingly sweet, with perhaps a touch of the cider itself behind it. Fortunately the taste is a bit better. It’s still a touch too sweet, but not cloying as the nose suggests. The black cherry here tastes almost genuine. The cider backbone is subtle, sweet, red apple-esque, nondescript. The palate is very light, but fortunately not quite watery. Carbonation is almost nonexistent, and would probably benefit from a bit more. Overall, it’s an okay cider. It’s not unbearably sweet, but more than one or two would probably give me a stomach ache. I’d recommend it to beginner cider drinkers or malt beverage fans.

Has a dark cherry aroma. Taste is a dark cherry cider with some sugar. Hard for me tonight past all that added sugar

12oz bottle shared by Bvery. Clear golden pour. Huge black cherry bomb aroma. Taste follows, very sweet. My kind of sour!

On tap at Bigby’s Pour House in Addison, IL. dispensed to a tulip showing a slightly hazed, golden hue, with a modest layer of quickly diminishing, white head foam, and light spots of lacing. The nose was sweet & fruity, with expressive, cough drop-like notes of dark cherry. Light to medium bodied, with okay spritz to the carbonation, the taste was sweet, apple & black cherry, with a moderate tartness. Close to cloying, but a tasty, aperitif-like cider, nonetheless.

Strong cherry aroma, with a caramely hint behind it. Dark pour, but probably not as dark as you’d expect. Still on the more golden side, rather than brown. Tart-- the cherry really punches through to the tongue. Long finish.

12oz bottle. Pale straw color with soft carbonation. Aroma is predominantly cherry with some apple in the background. Big cherry flavor with apple. Sweet, almost like drinking fruit juice. Medium bodied. The cherry twist is pretty good here.

Black cherries in the front. Golden straw with a disappearing head. Very sweet with strong black cherry notes. Medium light bodied with a semi tart crisp finish leaving a slight cherry taste in the mouth.

Not a terribly bad cider. I’ve certainly had worse. The cider poured a straw color with a quickly dissipating white head. There’s plenty of cherry and cola in the nose. The body was lively and well carbonated. I tasted a sort-of manufactured, fake cherry flavor. I was surprised to find some lacing left inside the glass. The cider finished up sweet.

Bottle at Stanleys. Pours a clear gold with strong cherry skin and oak. Thin mouth, tart cherry, crisp, crushable, good.
