COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Australian Pale Ale
Whilst the grape is usually associated with McLaren Vale, it is the region’s epicurean tradition which is most pervasive. With this in mind, we are pleased to introduce Vale Ale — a bottle conditioned premium pale ale hailing from one of the world’s great wine regions, McLaren Vale. To be one of the leading beers in the world. Vale Ale is a sophisticated and complex Australian ale with great structure and balance. It opens with bright aromas of hops combined with citrus notes. The palate presents a bouquet of pronounced fruit flavours with nutty malt and bitter hops following on the mid palate. The finish is quite dry for a pale ale, perfect to quench a summer’s thirst. It is brewed from the finest malt and hops and fermented with traditional ale yeast. It is not filtered or carbonated but allowed to finish off its fermentation in the bottle which achieves a subtle carbonation that complements the ale style. It finishes light on the palate and leaves a refreshing finish and light effervescence. http://www.valeale.com/

Bottled version brewed at Laverton until the introduction of a bottling line to the Willunga Brewery.

High carbonic acid gas, first taste is just no taste and nothing special. Design is simple and looks elegant. It seems to be related to grape something. Last taste is little special.

Bottle in Brisbane, August 2014. A bit hazy golden with a white head. Light with some hops, hay, citrus and grass. Drinkable but nothing special.

UPDATED: OCT 12, 2014 Re-rated this, maybe the quality level varies as the first time I tried it wasn’t good but this time I liked it, some nice piney aromas, reasonable bitterness that lingers but a fairly clean finish, pretty subdued, a bit like Gage Atomic but the carbonation in this one seems "creamier".

VinegarStroke (280) - Napa, California, USA - JUN 22, 2014
Tasted 6/6: Bottle: Another poor beer from these guys. Clean simple short. Lacks any obvious ale lift or hops. Short light palate. Waste of money and tasting time.

sm89walt (1780) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - MAY 23, 2014
330ml bottle. A particulate golden amber in colour with a fading two-finger white head. Mid-fruits, caramel and grassy hop aromas with a distinct and not entirely pleasant leafy, earthy yeast character that carries on to the palate. Light to medium body, medium carbonation and a nutty, toasted malt linger in the finish. Tolerable but not one I’d be keen to revisit.

mattyhennessy (348) - Highton, AUSTRALIA - APR 9, 2014
Bottle. Pours a golden amber with a small white foam head. Minimal fruit aroma and detecting some sweetness. Very weak taste, but that is typical of a Aus pale ale. Not much to comment on

bottle picked up in downtown newcastle. pale golden and very fizzy; some butterscotch in the aroma; very bland for the style - low biitterness, hint of caramel, industrial tinge. why bother?

Jado (575) - Camp Hill, AUSTRALIA - FEB 1, 2014
From 330 ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a large rocky white head (Bret infection?) and vigorous carbonation. Aromas of peach, lemon and spice (nutmeg). Taste however doesn’t live up to the nose with a very flat flavour profile lifted only by a prickly citrus bitterness at the back end. Watery body. Clean finish with a very light citrus aftertaste.

M_Sack (403) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - DEC 25, 2013
Bottle. Cloudy straw colour with a poorly retained white head. Pear, honey, nut and an unpleasant metallic aroma. Further flavours of honey and nut. A touch of caramel malt, but very poorly balanced. Some bitterness but a real hollowness to the palate. American pale ale? Not good.
