3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Had this at the Thompson brewpub in Salem. A new brewer had taken over ( Jenn),
I went with a sad heart, because the brewer before had been able to do a few of his own creations and I was afraid the new brewer would be strictly McMenamins.
But wow she had already her own "Coffee Brown" only at this location.
Hazy/murky dark brown ale, small light tan head .
The aroma is mainlly malty tones with a light coffee tinge.
Taste starts with lightly sweet malts, light hopping and a nice hint of esspresso coffee which does not overwhelm ,only helps the brown.
Mouthfeel is good for the style, medium dry finish.
Overall a nice brown with encouraging hints of coffee. Well done!
