A classic Northwest pale ale and McMenamins top selling beer. This rich chestnut colored gem is a model of harmony between hops and malted barley. Hammerhead's signature Cascade hop nose and intense hopped flavor blend nicely with the caramel tones from the crystal malt. This beer has a vocal following. To run out is an unforgivable sin. One finger of fluffy head with dark amber colored body. Smell is a nice pine and citrus. Taste is pine all the way with a nice malt balance. Solid and tasty. Soft texture with moderate carbonation and medium body. A nice and drinkable IPA with a good profile.

Cloudy amber with a thin head and some lace. Malty aroma with a bit of lemon and lime. Mildly bitter flavor. Just a good drinkable ale with no frills.

Pours golden amber with an off-white head. Aroma is a little earthy, classic pine and citrus, some maltiness, and slightly sweet grain. Taste is pine, catty, medium bitterness, slight caramel. Medium body, fizzy. Could pass for an IPA. Not an especially exciting one but pretty good.

On tap at Oak Hills. A: Semi clear copper, thin white head. N: Light hops lend grapefruit, earth, and pine. There’s some mint in here. Cracker underneath. T: Bitter for the most part. Lightly sweet. M: Medium-light body, tickling carbonation, no alcohol. O: Mediocre pale ale. In the day of clean and hoppy, this doesn’t stack up. Needs to study Sierra Nevada.

Draft pour pint at the brand new McMenamins Anderson School. This is officially the first beer I’ve ever had at a school. Count it!! Pours a dark cloudy copper (I think.., its dark and in a plastic cup). Sweet caramel malt aroma with a short hop. Sweet matching flavor with a biting bitter finish. I’m very impressed with this place. Less with the beer, but not bad.

Sampler from Boon’s Treasury. Medium to dark copper in color. Sweet hoppy nose with a little breadiness. Decent hoppiness with a sweet malty backbone. Light sweet finish. Some breadiness and hops. Pretty tasty pale ale.

On tap @ McMenamins Barley Mill. Hazed amber colored beer with white foam. Just a bunch of cooked grain and toast. Some grass, straw, and burnt toast. Meh. The flavor is mildly bitter and grassy. A lot of bread, toast, and caramel. Odd estery quality. Not really a fan.
