Our traditional Yuletide ale, Kris Kringle holiday ale, has been standardized to avoid the huge variations in the consistency of spicing in previous releases. This year's concoction is a medium-bodied, amber-colored, innards-warming winter ale spiced with ginger, cinnamon, and allspice. Immense cereal grain backbone. Caramel highlights the chewy, grainy bread body. Earthy notes throughout with very light use of holiday spice.

Clear amber with scant white head. Not much aroma. Big hops throughout, nice body and mouthfeel. Some spice, possibly coriander and orange peel. Bitter finish. Best brew of a disappointing session.

Tap... Poured a dark ruby with a thin head. Spicy malt aroma. Pretty mellow palate, pretty good combination of hops, malt and all the Christmas-sy spices that are in there, which makes you warm right up. You can really taste the Ginger and the alcohol is very subtle but it adds to that warmth. I’d have to say, this is more impressive than I thought.

Pint at McMenamins St. Francis School in Bend--Poured a deep hazy copper-amber with a wispy white head. Glowing very, nice looking brew. Mildly spicy with some cinnamon and perhaps nutmeg in there. Creamy mouth feel with some sweet notes, and more spice in the finish. Had that typical McMenamins finish that I didn’t care for. Pretty sessionable for a winter beer. Ok.

Draft in the Clackamas pub. Slightly spiced, lightly roasted malt aroma (spiced brown ale). Brown color. Medium body with near creamy carbonation. Mild Xmas spices, maybe a ginger note over smooth brown ale. Finish is a little harshly roasted malt with some sharpish spice.
