Nice full creamy light tan head and heavy sheets of sturdy lacing. Aroma is that dark roasted malts, sweet prunes, grape jelly. A slightly sour slant as well. It tastes pretty middle of the road, dark roast, but not over the top. Some coffee and old campfire. Not overly bittered but not very strong either. Smooth but not very heavy feel. Nicely balanced basic stout. Thanks for the tradeKenb kenb (1100), Oregon, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 6, 2006 22 0z bomber from McMenamins pub. Almost black in color, average head, a little lace. Chocolate, coffee, caramel malty aroma with just a slight bit of roastiness. It tastes just like it smells. It is sweet, tastey and divine. Medium bodied. Could use a tad bit more carbonation. My only complaint is that it actually tastes more like a Porter than a Stout. It doesn’t have the typical Stout ’oomph’ finish and aftertaste. However if you can forget that, It is an awesome brew and I am rating it totally for enjoyment, not for style. And man I ENJOYED this, the first glass tasted wonderful with my Greek Gyro, and it tasted just as good when i had the 2nd glass by itself hour later. Very very enjoyable brew! jimhilt (1674), Bow, New Hampshire, USA

Near black color. Light carbonation and heavy bodied. Roasted coffee nose. Starts as sweet roasted coffee and stays that way. Nice chewy stout. $4.25 for a 22oz bottle from the brewery in Troutdale, Or. GeneralGao (3051), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 8, 2006 Draught at the brewpub. hazy dark brown color without much head. Not much nose to speak of. Flavor was a bit roasty, but not as chocolatey as the porter. Slightly sweet. Eh, MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA

Quite acidic, some coffee bitterness, but far too acidic. Somewhat thin. Eh. bhensonb (4248), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 18, 2006 Chocolatey aroma. Deep brown color. Minimal tan head. Coffee, chocolate and a hint of apricot. Mouthfeel starts creamy, but finishes a bit thin. Very pleasant to drink. JorisPPattyn (5167), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 19, 2006 Draught at Six Arms, Seattle Very deep brown; tenacious small yellowish head. Dark malts; I get peanuts again, as in the porter. Very surprising fruity flavour, as if the raspberry beer was mixied in, but that would make it too weak. No bitterness discernible whatsoever. Very little roastedness too. Slightly lactic/wheat acidity retronasal. Creamy MF, not empty. TERMINATOR? Yes, it was, I left the pub. heemer77 (4303), Savannah, Missouri, USA

The aroma was chocolate with coffee and molasses. There was also some pancakes. The taste of bad roasted coffee. There was also sharp peanut shells and some grassy tobacco. Plenty of carbonation. A poor stout.
