Black pour with slight toasted coffee in the nose. Burnt unsweetened chocolate... coffee kilned grain. High Carb and a dry under hopped finish. A good stout for a brew pub.

Jun 13, 2008 Updated: Oct 3, 2009The first time I had this I really liked it I guess, scoring it at 4, but the second time I had it it was terrible. Mostly tastes like dirty water. I didn’t even finish the sample. I since I was treated so rudely at the bar, this gets re-rated with the low score.

Apr 21, 2008 This black ale poured witha thin tan head and a skunky aroma. The head quickly disappeared. The flavor is smoked malt, but rather thin with a carbonated chalky finish.

Apr 14, 2008 A stout I’ve had many times and come back to. Classic Mcmenamins flavor with burnt chocolate and slight black patent. This beer is good when is has higher carbonation. Almost like a heavier brown ale with some fizz!

Apr 11, 2008 on tap at Ringlers. pours a deep brown color with a small tan head. aroma is roasted and sugary. flavor is no surprise to the aroma, but a little watery. lots of chocolate, coffee, and ends a bit bitter.

Mar 20, 2008 Draft. Dark chestnut beer with a dark-cream colored head. Caramel, toffee aroma with light roast and light chocolate. Caramel, chocolate, sweet malt flavor. Medium-plus body. Chocolate and caramel linger. Nice balance. A bit of hops show through to add depth.
