MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Jun 14, 2006 Dark, a bit read, thin red-brown head. Nose of smoky charcoal and molasses. Quite acidic, some coffee bitterness, but far too acidic. Somewhat thin. Eh.
22415brewery (57), redmond, Washington, USA Oct 25, 2009 Straightforward flavor of roast from black barley and medium malt backbone. Pours into a pint glass a nice dark black with half an inch of head. A little bit of coffee, slightly creamy, good roastiness, finishes a touch sweet. Also had on Nitro with better than average results.
Makes a killer ice cream float.
I’ve experienced several versions of Terminator and some have been good and some disappointing. Although I’m a huge fan, I’ve found a fair bit of inconsistency with some of the McMenamin’s properties as far as their brews along with their food. I don’t know how much tinkering their brewers do with water chemistry, but there is a definite flavor difference between Terminator brewed in Washington State compared to Terminator brewed in Oregon. Still though, one of my favorite Stouts out of the Northwest. Lubiere (4462), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Oct 18, 2009 A dark brown stout with a thin moka head. A light sweet chocolate aroma with cloying butterscotch notes. In mouth, a decent chocolate with some cherry notes, a bit of an oily mouthfeel, Ok, but no more. On tap at Six Arms, Seattle, Sept. 12 2009. can8ianben (903), Pasadena, California, USA Sep 14, 2009 Thick and chewy - a nice contrast from the porter in my sampler. Black body with a thick head that sits thinly on top. Some rich coffee flavors to go along with the creamy roastiness. thooper41 (384), Oregon, USA Sep 6, 2009 Tap at McMenamins: Appearance is pitch black with minimal tan head, aroma of roasted malt and hints of chocolate, flavor is pretty simple lots of roasted malt and hints of chocolate again, a pretty standard tasting stout with no off flavors. blutt59 (2042), Dallas, Texas, USA Aug 22, 2009 bottle, dark brown with huge gusher foam, aroma of coffee, light maltiness, flavor of sour coffee, cream, overcarbonated fakepurseninja (770), Washington, USA Aug 18, 2009 Deep dark body, heavy roasted chocolate malt. Light burnt coffee notes. Uninspired. vulcanmeister (102), La Grande, Oregon, USA Aug 18, 2009 On tap at McMenamins in Roseburg OR, this stout just blew me away. It was dark, thick and scrumptous. There was a nice blend of light sweetness and dark roasted malt with some dark chocolate overtones. One of the best. highibus (421), Mill Creek, Washington, USA Jul 18, 2009 Pours a deep black with thin head. Nice roasted malt aroma. Great body and texture. Not overly thick but plenty of body. Nice amount of alcohol as well. Just a good above average slightly strong stout. A pleasure to see so close to my house. Will have to go back for a growler fill.
